Hey everyone! I was recently out shopping and I was looking around Ulta for nothing in particular when I came across this eyeshadow palette. I had never tried any products from BH Cosmetics so I was excited to see if I liked it! This is the “Love in London” eyeshadow palette ($16). The brand has a collection of palettes all relating to beautiful places around the world. Some of the other palettes were called, “Beautiful in Barcelona”, “Hangin’ in Hawaii”, and “Summer in St. Tropez”. I plan on buying a couple of these other palettes because the colors are stunning (but to be honest, it was the names that sold me)!
Of all of these eye shadow palettes, I chose the “Love in London” one because I liked the colors in this palette the most! This palette is absolutely perfect for people like me. I’m not the biggest fan of color, and many of these are neutral shades that could be worn daily! The palette includes a mix of matte and shimmer shades as well. The colors are incredibly pigmented and easily blendable. When I first applied one of the shadows to my lids, I was surprised and very impressed by the pigmentation. One thing I love about this collection is that the names of the shadows relate to the destination. In this palette, some of the colors are, ”Big Ben”, “Duchess”, “Piccadilly”, and “Tea”. A couple of my favorite colors are “Prestige” and “Palace”.
When I first sat down to create this look, I had no idea what it would end up looking like. I knew I wanted to use the shade “Prestige” because I think it is my favorite color in the palette, but other than that I was just going to experiment! The look is a bit dramatic, but it could be worn for a nice dinner or a night out with the girls!
The Makeup Tutorial:
The first step to any makeup tutorial is eye primer. This goes all over my eyelid to ensure that the color lasts all day long.
Next, I took my new palette by BH Cosmetics, “Love in London”, and applied the color “Prestige” all over my lids. I then took the color “Cheers” and used this as a crease shade.
Then I applied the shade “Crumpet” in the outer “V” of my eyes (make sure to blend). As I mentioned, I’m not the biggest fan of color, but I do try to incorporate it in small, subtle ways. So, I took the shade “Duchess” and applied this on the outer half of my upper and lower lash line. And the last step for the eyeshadow is highlight. I used the shade “Cheeky” on my brow bones and inner corners to brighten up my eyes.
Next up: mascara! If you have read any of my previous makeup tutorials, you may know that Maybelline mascaras are some of my favorites (particularly the Lash Sensational mascara). For this look, I started off by applying the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Primer. I recently tried the Maybelline Lash Sensational Curvitude mascara for the first time and I fell in love with it so that is what I used on my lashes. This mascara does an amazing job at separating and lengthening my lashes. I highly recommend this combo of the lash primer and the mascara.
The last step for the eyes was eyeliner. I used my go-to black eyeliner by Essence and lined my waterline and tightline.
Next, I took my Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Face Primer and used my clean hands to gently apply this onto my face. I used my favorite foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me foundation and blended this into my skin. I applied my Banana Setting Powder by BellaPierre Cosmetics by lightly sweeping it across my face.
Then, I used my Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in “Park Ave Princess” and applied a small amount to my cheekbones and forehead. I took my new highlighter by Wet n Wild in the shade “Botanic Dream” and applied this right above my cheekbones.
Lastly, I applied a simple nude lip plumping gloss to my lips. I am unsure of the color, but the gloss is by the brand NYC Makeup.
For this look, I skipped my brows and blush, and I did not contour. If you would like to include these steps, go for it! I would recommend using a more neutral blush color!
If you are interested in purchasing this palette, I highly recommend it. I would also recommend looking into the other palettes from this collection if this one is not your cup of tea 😉 Thank you so much for reading! Cheers!
If you have not watched episode 1 of The Bachelor (Peter’s season), go watch and then come back to read! I will be mentioning some spoilers ahead!
Who else is SO happy that The Bachelor is back?! I know many people dislike reality TV, and I understand, but this is one addictive show! I also know that a lot of it is dramatized and many of the relationships don’t end up working out, but it is still fun to watch! If you have not watched The Bachelor/Bachelorette, let me explain what the show is involves: first, there is ALWAYS a villain (sometimes there ends up being more than one). On at least one date, expect fireworks. On another date, expect a country music singer/band to appear. There may be times where both of these things occur on one date. Expect a ton of drama, tears, and wine, and lastly, understand that every season is just as dramatic as the last (even though Chris Harrison will try to convince you otherwise).
To be honest, Hannah’s season was not my favorite. I was hoping that the next bachelor would either be Peter or Mike. I think it would have been great for Mike to be the bachelor because I thought that he was charming and seemed to have the right intentions for being on the show. It was clear that he wanted to find love, but I wasn’t too disappointed that Peter was asked. I do think that the whole Bachelor franchise could try to diversify their casts a bit more. It’s crazy that just a couple of years ago we had the first black bachelorette! The show has been around since 2002/2003 so it is definitely past due!
Let’s talk about this season! Since Peter is a pilot, tons of puns were being thrown around on night one and this was no surprise. I’m sure we are going to hear many more pilot jokes as well as more talk of the “windmill situation”. I really like Peter because I feel like he is such a sweet and genuine guy. I love that he has a close relationship with his family as well.
On night one, Peter met 30 women. A couple of the women who I believe stood out to Peter the most were Hannah Ann, Kelley, and Madison. I also think that these three are going to make it really far. He may even pick one of them. Throughout the first night, as expected, some of the women weren’t afraid to interrupt another woman’s time with Peter. This of course caused drama between a few of the girls, specifically Hannah Ann and Shiann. There was a pretty awkward conversation between them after Hannah Ann spoke to Peter three times. There was also some tension when it came to Kelley. I think the other girls felt a bit threatened when they found out that Peter had met Kelley before. Many of the women were incredibly bold and went in for a kiss on the first night! Hannah Ann ended up getting the first impression rose, which I definitely didn’t like but I saw it coming. At the end of the night, Victoria F. was incredibly worried about being sent home because she spent her time reminding Peter what she said when she walked out of the limo…yikes!
The next day started with a group date. The women went to learn some terms related to flying, and then they all tried out the gyroscope and completed an obstacle course. The prize? A mini date with Peter flying over the sunset. Toward the end, it was between Shiann and Kelley. Kelley ended up cheating and riding her bike straight through the course while Shainn was staying on track. Peter took Kelley on the plane ride, and the other girls were upset that Kelley cheated. Another awkward conversation came from this as well.
Madison got the first date and this was a pretty personal first date. She got to go to Peter’s house to watch his parents renew their vows. Any time a contestant meets the person’s family very quickly, I always try to put myself in their shoes. I can’t imagine meeting someone’s parents on a first date. I would feel incredibly nervous. Madison handled the situation well, and she seemed to get along with his mother. Toward the end of their date, she told Peter that she feels like she’s known him forever. They ended the date by SURPRISE, slow dancing to some live country music. I think that Madison is going to go far this season, but I don’t think she’ll be the one Peter chooses.
And now for some drama. After Peter met all of the women, one last person stepped out of the limo and that was Hannah Brown. I think it was most likely the producers who wanted her to come back to add some drama to the show, but I guess she was ok with making an appearance. She gave Peter back his wings that he gave her when they first met, and she wished him luck. We thought that would be the last of her, but then on the second group date, she came back.
This group date started in a very uncomfortable way for the girls and for Peter. Hannah was on stage and she shared a bit about her time in the windmill with Peter. To say that the other girls looked uncomfortable is an understatement. No one wanted to hear it. When we began to question where this date was going, Hannah explained that Peter and the girls were going to share a personal intimate story with a live audience. The episode ended before we got to hear any of these stories, but Hannah and Peter did have a private talk before it was over.
Hannah and Peter talked about their past relationship and the regrets that they had. Peter asked Hannah what she would say if he asked her to come back to the show, and although she hadn’t really given a clear answer, I do not believe she would come back. It seems that many people think Peter is going to end up with Hannah B., but I am not so sure. I think he will possibly pick one of women I mentioned earlier! I think that Peter needs to move on. It was obvious that he was not her first choice, and even though I understand that it takes time for that love to disappear, he deserves to be happy and to be with someone new.
I love going on Twitter to see what people are saying when I watch an episode. Whenever the show is on, it is always trending! I love when something awkward or crazy happens because everyone on Twitter goes wild posting hilarious gifs and tweets about it.
I plan on sharing a few recaps throughout the season. I won’t share one every single week because I feel like it would be too much, plus I have other exciting posts to share with you all! In these posts, I will go over the highlights and the biggest talking points! If you are a fan of The Bachelor/Bachelorette, leave me a comment below and tell me what you thought of episode 1. Also, tell me your predictions! Thank you for reading!
As many of you are aware, I enjoy living a healthy life. My fitness journey has not been perfect and I have gotten pretty far off track, but I have been doing a lot better lately. I know that exercising is not often described as fun, but I believe that there is something out there for everyone, whether that’s dancing, boxing, weight lifting, or running. I quickly fell in love with weight lifting as well as hiking, and after doing this combination for quite some time now, I have learned quite a bit about what to wear and what to bring for both occasions. Today I am sharing some of my hiking essentials (some of these may not be seen as a necessity to some of you. These are just some things I like to have with me. I like to be prepared for anything). Hopefully, if you’re hiking with a friend, they can carry a few of these items as well. These are some items that I believe everyone should carry in their hiking bags.
Some people may not feel that this is necessary, but I definitely do! You never know what you may end up touching, and the bathrooms at public parks are not always incredibly clean. If you are anything like me, I suggest keeping a small hand sanitizer in your bag.
Never ever forget to bring water on your hikes! It doesn’t matter if it is cold or hot out; I always bring a couple water bottles with me. Not only should you be drinking 8 cups (or more) of water a day, but you should especially drink water when exercising; this includes hiking.
Unless you plan on camping overnight or having a picnic, you do not need to bring a ton of food. A few simple snacks such as nuts, granola bars, or fruit should suffice. I always bring a couple snacks just in case. The hikes that I go on are not always very strenuous or too long, so it is not always an essential but you never know what may happen! Also, if you’re bringing a furry friend on your hike, make sure to have some food and water for them!
A portable charger
If you are going hiking, especially on a longer hike, I recommend taking a portable charger. I never really use my phone on hikes unless I am taking photos, but if your phone were to die, or if you were to get lost, it is important to have a charged phone. I like to let other family members know where I am just in case, but you should make sure to start your hikes with a fully charged phone and a portable charger.
As I mentioned, I really do not use my phone when I am hiking, but if you do, and if you’re alone, you can always bring headphones to hear some of your favorite music to get you through those difficult hikes.
I always like to have my hair up and out of my face when exercising, whether that’s in the gym or on a mountain. You will rarely see me without a hair tie on my wrist! I always bring one with me anywhere I go in case mine breaks or it gets lost somewhere!
When you’re out hiking, there is always a chance of injury. Even if you just got a cut on your leg or finger, you should make sure to take care of it quickly in order to avoid infections and for it to heal sooner. I would recommend at least carrying a few band aids with you. It is better to be prepared, plus, band aids won’t take up any space and they won’t weigh you down.
Personal hygiene products
I really do not bring many personal hygiene products with me when hiking, but if you are the type of person to sweat a lot, bringing a small deodorant may be useful to you. Also, for all my ladies out there, bringing a couple feminine hygiene products with you is always a smart move.
I think we often forget just how important it is to wear sunscreen daily, I know I do! To be completely honest, I really only wear sunscreen when I am going to be outside for a long period of time in the summer. I am trying to wear it more often all year round, but even moreso when it is sunny out. When I am hiking, I could be outdoors for anything from an hour and a half to three hours, and I want to protect my skin as much as I can. You do not need to carry this in your bag, but you should make sure to put some on before you leave the house!
Thank you so much for reading! Leave me a comment below and tell me what your hiking essentials are!
Happy New Year everyone! 2020 is already looking good, and I am so excited to share some new content with you all! Now, I know that people tend to laugh at the idea of “New Year’s resolutions” because sadly, a lot of the time people do not stick to them. Well, I have always been very determined to reach my goals, and I am very easily motivated, so I am going to do my best.
First, I plan on continuing my once a month hikes but I want to do things just a little different this year. If you read my “2019 Year in Review” post, you would know that my uncle and I went hiking once a month for twelve months in 2019. This is something I plan on continuing, however I want to make it a bit more challenging. I am hoping to incorporate a few more intense hikes throughout the year. Last year, our hikes were not always incredibly challenging, but we did find new places every time we wanted to hike! If we are unable to find new places to do these intense hikes, that’s ok, as long as we get one hike in every month!
This next one may seem so simple, but it will be a bit of a challenge for me personally. I want to try to get more organized; this includes things such as my room and school work. I love to plan out my days and I like having a set schedule. I’ve already written down a schedule for this coming semester of college, and although I am going to have a lot on my plate, I think that I will be able to handle it. Making time for the things I need to get done is important, but I also want to make time to do things that I enjoy such as writing, relaxing, and going to the gym. When it comes to my room, I tend to get a bit lazy when it is time to clean. I am going to try to keep my clothes in order, and if I do not use or wear something, I want to give it away. I think many of you will be able to relate when I say that putting away clean clothes is NOT fun. I’ll usually leave it next to my closet until it piles up. I am going to make sure to keep my room neat because it makes me feel much happier when everything is where it should be. Plus, it’s aesthetically pleasing to walk into a clean room every day.
As many of you know, I am a total gym rat and I have been weight training for almost 4 years! I love everything about weight lifting and living a healthy life has made me incredibly happy and confident. In 2019, I did struggle with a loss of motivation when it came to the gym and with healthy eating, so this year things are going to change big time. I am still in college and managing my time has always been difficult for me, so I am going to come up with a schedule for myself that includes my college classes, the gym, work, and spending time with family, friends, and myself. I plan to try to get to the gym at least 3 times a week, but I will work out for a total of 5 (meaning that I will do 2 at-home workouts a week plus the 3 days in the gym). As for food, I am creating a list of healthy foods that I enjoy and I will try to incorporate them into my daily meals. This includes a lot of fruits, vegetables, protein, and water!
Toward the end of 2019, I woke up every morning and I would compliment myself and tell myself that it was going to be a great day. Doing this absolutely changed my mood and set good intentions for the day ahead. It made me feel happy and a bit more confident as well. I am going to continue doing this daily, because you get to choose how your days go. Yes, we all have bad days, but you can always start over the next day, and you can start it on a more positive note. I also noticed that I sometimes talk down about myself and lately when I notice myself doing this, I stop talking. Starting now, if I want to say something I don’t like about myself, I won’t say it. We all have flaws, but it is so important to accept them and love ourselves anyway. I have talked about the power of your mind on my blog before, and it is something that I truly believe in. Your mind is a very powerful thing. Feed it love and good thoughts, and it can change your life. Ever since I made the decision to be happy and to love myself, things started to change in the most amazing way.
I’ve always enjoyed staying in my comfort zone. The problem with this is that you won’t ever grow by staying comfortable. I am going to share some very exciting news with you all soon and it is about an opportunity that I said yes to. I am nervous about it because it is a big step for me, but I am proud of the decision I’ve made and I am so excited for the opportunity! In 2020, I am going to try to step out of my comfort zone a bit and do things that scare me (only if they are going to help me grow).
Lastly, in 2020, I am going to continue writing as much as I can because the only way to get better at something is to actually do it. Writing has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. Little did I know then that it would turn into my dream. I love being able to write about my passions and share it with the world. I want to be able to write and help others, so I am going to continue doing that this year and for all of the years ahead.
I am very focused on my own personal growth right now, and I am going to continue to love myself unconditionally, and I am going to do my best to gain as much confidence in myself as I can. Thank you again for coming on this journey with me. You don’t know what it means to me. I’ve said it before, and I will always say it: the purpose of my blog is to share my passions, to inspire others, and to help me as well as my readers gain confidence in ourselves. So, if you’re new here, welcome to Compass to Confidence! 2020 is here and I want to continue to show myself and the world around me nothing but love. Leave me a comment below telling me some of your New Year’s resolutions!
Well, 2019 has come to an end. Another year has come and gone. It’s crazy, but the older I get, the faster the years seem to go by. It’s kind of scary to be honest, but I’m so excited for my future and to simply live my life that I don’t let it scare me too much. Today, I wanted to share my 2019 year in review with you all. I only created my website and started blogging in August of this year, so I didn’t get to share some other big moments that occurred earlier in 2019 with you.
Before I discuss my highlights for 2019, I wanted to mention that these are just my highlights. This year was not perfect, and I definitely had some bad moments, but overall this was a pretty great year for me. I always want to be 100% honest with you all, and I believe that vulnerability is what connects us. I don’t want those of you who had a difficult year to read this post and think that ONLY good things happened to me because this is not true. I am human after all, so my life is in no way perfect, but I wanted to share some moments that I am most proud of, as well as moments that simply made me happy. If this was not your best year, try to look back and celebrate your victories, no matter how small. Even if you didn’t accomplish every little thing you wanted to do, it is OK! Be proud of where you are today, and try to do better in 2020!
When 2019 first started, I had no idea what my life would look like when it ended, and although nothing absolutely insane happened, I feel different in the best way. I completed many of my goals, one of which was to go hiking once a month for twelve months. My uncle and I decided to do this together since we both enjoy hiking and he is very outdoorsy and adventurous so he was the perfect person to do this with. Our hikes were not always very strenuous (most of them were fairly easy), but being outdoors for a bit and using this time to exercise made me feel good and I always looked forward to those Sunday morning hikes.
Another thing that I have accomplished this year is something I am extremely proud of. On February 23rd, I celebrated three years of weight lifting! I truly cannot believe that I have been weight lifting for almost four years now! Time is going by so fast, and honestly, when it comes to the gym, it hasn’t always been easy. If you’ve been keeping up with me for a while now, you would probably know that I got a bit off track with the gym and with eating healthy this year, but I refuse to let this stop me from continuing my fitness and health journey. I fell in love with weight training so quickly thanks to my dad who taught me everything when I was sixteen years old. I am now twenty and so much stronger and more confident than I ever have been and the gym has played such a major role in my life. I have learned so much about myself because of it, and I have realized how easily motivated I am as well as my loyalty and dedication to reaching a goal that I really wanted to reach. In January of this year, I also celebrated two years of (mostly) healthy eating. I changed up my diet in January of 2018, and even though it has been difficult this year, I’ve stuck with it pretty well.
This year, I got to cross quite a few items off of my bucket list, one of which was going to Nashville! I had been to Tennessee a couple times before, but I never got to see Nashville until this past spring! I loved walking down Broadway and hearing the live music everywhere we went. The food was great, and although it rained most of the time we were there, I didn’t let it ruin my time. I had so much fun and I was able to see The Grand Ole Opry and The Parthenon.
My family enjoys traveling often, and we usually go somewhere new every year. This year, we were surprised with a trip to Alaska! I had always wanted to go on a cruise, and I was able to check this off of my bucket list! In June, we spent one week on the Norwegian Jewel, and then we spent another week in Alaska traveling on our own. The cruise was so much fun, and Alaska was absolutely beautiful. We got to see Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Anchorage, Denali, and Fairbanks. I am incredibly grateful that I get to travel often and see such breathtaking places with the people I love most.
This year, I turned twenty which was very exciting for me. I am no longer a teenager, and I feel both excited and nervous for the next decade. It’s crazy to think that in ten years I am going to be thirty! My life could completely change in these next ten years. So much could happen. I am proud of who I am today, and I am really looking forward to blossoming into the woman I am becoming. I know she’s going to do amazing things.
I had been wanting to create my own blog/website for so long now, but to be honest, I wasn’t sure how or where to start. I wanted to find a way to get my writing out there, but the idea of other people reading my words made me anxious. I obviously got over that fear, and I absolutely love blogging and being able to write about my passions while helping others. I feel like I am already fulfilling my purpose in life, and I am so excited to continue blogging in 2020.
This year, I started my junior year of college. College is definitely not easy, but I feel that it is rewarding and exciting. As a junior, I am finally getting to take more classes related to my interests and I really feel like I am learning so much information that is going to be very useful to me and my future career. I am proud of what I have accomplished in college so far, and I am looking forward to finishing my junior year strong.
Another highlight of this year is something that I never thought I would have the guts to do, and that is get a tattoo. My best friend and I had been talking about getting tattoos together for a while, but we never ended up doing it. Finally, in September, we went to get our first tattoos together and I am still so in love with it. This was another item on my bucket list and I was really excited to check this off with my best friend by my side! I am already planning my next tattoo, but I don’t want to go crazy! I want my tattoos to be mostly dainty and feminine.
Lastly, I was able to attend another concert this year! I had been to a few concerts before, but I definitely think that this one was the best! One of my best friends and I went to see the Jonas Brothers in November. I grew up listening to their music and watching them on TV, so seeing them live was like a childhood dream come true! I am so glad that they are back together and their new music is amazing.
2019 was a really great year for me. I really wanted to focus on growth and self-love, and that is exactly what I did and plan on continuing not just in 2020, but for the rest of my life. The purpose of my blog is to share my passions and to help me gain confidence in myself, but it is also about you, my readers, because I hope to help you gain confidence in yourselves as well. I want us to walk this journey of self-love together, because it is not easy, and sometimes you need someone to help you along the way.
I also wanted to say thank you to those of you who come back to read my blog posts every week, and to those of you who have supported my website since my first post. I am very proud of what I have been able to do with my website so far. I get so excited when I see a like or a comment from you guys, and I hope to get to know you, my readers, a bit better as time goes on. I plan on sharing a bit more about myself with you all, and I have some exciting posts coming up in the new year. (If any of you have any recommendations or posts you would like to see me create, let me know in a comment below! I would really appreciate it if you shared my blog with your friends and family as well!)
I am so excited to head into 2020 feeling the way that I do. I am feeling more positive and confident than I ever have, and I want to share it all with you. Thank you so much again. You don’t know how happy writing makes me, and being able to share it with you feels like my dream is coming true. That little girl with her diary in hand would be thrilled to see her future self living her dream. I’ve always been scared to share my writing with the world, and maybe that’s why I held back from creating a blog, but I’m not scared anymore. Two of my biggest goals in life are to write and to help others. I truly feel that this is what I am meant to do in my life, so nothing is going to hold me back. I hope you all have a Happy New Year, and I’ll talk to you all soon! Thank you!
(I wanted to briefly share that in 2020, I plan on changing up the look of my website just a bit. This is going to be a gradual change. The whole concept of my site is going to stay the same, but the look of it may change a little. I wanted to let you all know so that there wouldn’t be any confusion!)
Hey everyone! I am so excited to share what is in my December glam bag with you today! I feel like I was waiting forever for this one to arrive! I never peak at what’s inside my glam bags, so I am always surprised to see what I get. Every month, before I review any of the products and share them with you, I like to try them out for myself to see if I like them or not (this is why I typically post these later in the month)!
This month, Ipsy wanted its members to shine on, so Ipsy included products that would help us get our holiday glow on! The bag is silver with a hint of green! The bag is not my favorite, but the colors are perfect for the holidays. I rated my overall bag a 4/5 stars.
Inside the bag:
Phase Zero Make Up – Satin Eyeshadow in Banana Beige
I always love receiving new eyeshadows to try and this one didn’t disappoint! I typically use golds, browns, and taupes on my eyes because I feel that they are easier to work with and they are great everyday colors! This shadow is a beautiful shimmery champagne color, and I think that it is perfect for a more natural holiday makeup look! It is pigmented and easy to blend as well. I rated this product a 5/5 stars!
Pure Brazilian – Leave-In Conditioner
I do not always receive hair products in my bags, but I was hopeful when I saw this leave-in conditioner! I had actually never tried a leave-in conditioner before this! Since I received this product, I have been using it every time I wash my hair to see if I like it or not! After using it a few times, I feel like I really didn’t notice much of a difference besides the fact that my hair felt a bit softer. I struggle with frizzy hair, and this conditioner didn’t seem to help with that very much. I will continue to use the product once in a while, and if my opinion were to change, I will let you all know! I rated this product a 2/5 stars.
Tarte – Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess
I don’t own many bronzers, but I love the fact that this one is a bit more subtle on my skin tone! I am still trying to perfect my contouring and bronzing skills, so I never like to apply too much. This bronzer is perfect for me, and the smell just reminds me of summertime (which is actually making me miss it quite a bit)! It smells like coconut and sunscreen, and I am so in love with it! I rated this product a 5/5 stars!
Benefit Cosmetics – The POREfessional Face Primer
I love Benefit Cosmetics, so any time I receive anything from them I am thrilled! This primer may be a new favorite of mine! I have been trying many different primers since I subscribed to Ipsy, but I think this one has impressed me the most. When I first applied it, it felt so incredibly smooth, and it was so light that I felt like I was applying nothing on my face! It made my skin very smooth and it is a perfect base for any foundation! I rated this product a 5/5 stars!
Skin Regimen – Night Detox
This is the product that I chose to receive this month! I actually checked the price of this product and found that it is around $85! This is something that is meant to be applied at night before bed, and then washed off in the morning. Apparently, your skin repairs itself best while you are sleeping, so I was hoping that it would clear up my skin a bit and give me healthier looking skin. After using this most nights, I feel that it has helped my skin improve a bit, but I think I need to continue using it to really see if it is worth it or not. I did not love the smell, but after a few seconds it disappears, and so far this is the only negative that came with this night detox. I rated this product a 4/5 stars.

There is nothing more stunning than a red dress, especially during the holidays! Today I wanted to share a Christmas Eve OOTD (outfit of the day) with you all because I recently purchased the most beautiful dress.
This is the “Dance of Romance Red Lace Cold-Shoulder Midi Dress” from Lulus.com! When I was online shopping for some holiday outfits, I came across this dress on sale for $18. If you read my Thanksgiving OOTD, you would know that Lulus has quickly become one of my favorite online stores!
I paired this outfit with these simple black block heels that I bought on Amazon last year (I am not too sure of the price, but they may have been around $20-$30 dollars). The heels are by the brand “Madden Girl”.
I typically prefer to wear gold jewelry, however I felt that silver matched the dress better! I wore a simple pair of diamond earrings and a silver bow ring. Lastly, I took this sequin clutch that I purchased at TJ Maxx to complete the look! (For a few more photos of this outfit, check out my Instagram: @sacchere14.)
It is actually an incredibly beautiful day out (65 degrees)! Although I wish it were a bit colder so that it would feel more like Christmas, I’m glad I did not freeze in this dress! I think that I have only experienced a few white Christmases in my life, and it is something I wish I could experience more often.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I hope that you are spending time with the people you love most! Enjoy every moment, and I will be back to chat with you all in a couple days! Thank you for reading! Merry Christmas!
One thing that can always get me in the holiday spirit is Christmas music! As soon as Thanksgiving is over (and even sometimes before), I’m blasting all of the Christmas music and watching some of my favorite Christmas movies! Today, I wanted to share some of my favorite holiday movies and music with you all!
First, Let’s talk movies! When I was a kid, I always looked forward to watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Even today I would sit down and watch those movies! I also loved a movie called Olive, the Other Reindeer and The Tangerine Bear. I haven’t seen these two in forever but I have memories of watching them all the time.
Some of my Christmas movie favorites are Elf, Home Alone (I like the second one the most), and Jingle All the Way. One of my all time favorite Christmas movies is The Holiday. There’s just something about this movie that gets me every time, and I have loved it since the first time I saw it. If you haven’t watched this movie, GO WATCH IT! It is so sweet and a perfect mix of comedy and romance.
Ever since Glee, I have been following Lea Michele’s career and this year she was in a new movie called Same Time Next Christmas. I just watched it the other night with my family and I thought it was a cute Christmas movie. Speaking of Lea Michele, her new album called Christmas in The City came out last month and I’ve been listening to it constantly! Her voice is so beautiful and some of my favorite songs on the album are I’ll Be Home For Christmas, White Christmas, Angels We Have Heard On High, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. If you haven’t heard her album, I recommend listening to it because it is perfect.
As some of you may know if you read my recent posts in the “Entertainment to Share” section of my blog, I love the Jonas Brothers! They recently came out with a new song called Like It’s Christmas so this one has been on repeat lately as well!
When I was little, my dad was always playing music. Around Christmas time, he would play these two albums that we continued to play every single year, and they have always reminded me of Christmas time and my family. First, he would play Amy Grant’s album A Christmas To Remember. Amy Grant reminds me of my childhood, and I feel like listening to these songs always brings me back to the best times. If we didn’t play this album around Christmas it would feel so strange. Some of my favorite songs from this album are A Christmas To Remember, Jingle Bell Rock, Christmas Lullaby, and Christmas Can’t Be Very Far Away.
The other album that my dad always plays is called Rockin’ Christmas and I have vivid memories of me, my dad, and my brother playing these songs as we decorated the Christmas tree and danced around. This album included songs from different artists, but my favorites were always Run Rudolph Run, Zat You Santa Claus, and Noel.
There are also those classic Christmas songs that everyone knows. Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You has always been a favorite, and basically anything by Nat King Cole (especially The Christmas Song). I always say it, but Michael Buble’s voice IS Christmas. Every time I hear him sing, it just reminds me of the holidays. I love listening to his version of It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas and I also love Grown Up Christmas List.
I remember when me and my siblings were little, on Christmas Eve, my dad would read us ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas before we went to bed. Once he was finished reading, we were all still wide awake of course. We were always too excited to fall asleep. Every year, my mom would make us a cup of raw oats and glitter and we would go outside to our front yard and throw it around so that “Santa’s reindeer would see it and make sure to stop by”. One year, my brother and I swore we heard something on the roof. As we’ve gotten older, we do not take part in these little traditions anymore, but it makes me smile when I think back, and I hope to continue them with my own children one day.
Thank you so much for reading! Leave me a comment below and tell me what some of your favorite Christmas movies and songs are!
Today I wanted to share an important message with you all. I think that this is something people should hear more often, especially around the holidays. Living a healthy life is not always easy. Luckily for me, I enjoy working out most of the time, so this is not much of a problem for me. What has been difficult however, is healthy eating. I made the decision to start eating healthier in January of 2018, and while I would say that I have done pretty well and stuck to that decision, I have definitely gotten off track this year, and I have mentioned it on my blog before. I have never struggled with any kind of eating disorder and for the most part I would say that my relationship with food is pretty healthy, however it is not perfect.
Even when I first started to change my diet and eat healthier, I always allowed myself to indulge once in a while. I would eat mostly healthy during the week and then on the weekends I would allow myself to go out and enjoy lunch with my family and when I got home I would try to snack on healthier foods for the rest of the day. This is a plan that I decided to stick with and I am still trying to go by it today (I found that this is what works for me, but it may not work for you, so find what works for you and stick to it)! Even though I feel that I got off track with food and even the gym at times this year, I deserve to enjoy the holidays, and so do you.
Whether you have been working extremely hard in the gym and the kitchen this year, or you got off track like me, it is 100% OK to let yourself enjoy those holiday treats. Obviously, you should still try to eat healthy and workout during this time of year, but having some Christmas cookies or missing a few workouts will not derail your progress. For me personally, I don’t workout on holidays and around Christmas time especially, I want to spend time with my family so this means skipping my workouts a few times. Even if you feel like you didn’t make a ton of progress this year, you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself. This is something that I am still trying to learn, so if you are feeling the same way, you are not alone.
You do not necessarily have to avoid foods that may be described as “unhealthy” or “fattening”. Yes, you should remember to eat these foods in moderation, but avoiding them completely is somewhat unrealistic, and you shouldn’t feel guilty for enjoying them from time to time. If you are trying to eat healthier, remember that changing your diet is a process and it is one that takes time, so allow yourself that time.
This isn’t just a message that I am sharing with athletes, this is for EVERYONE: let yourself indulge every once in a while. If you know that you are going to want to enjoy the sweet and delicious foods around this time of year, leading up to the celebrations, just do your best to eat healthy and when the time comes, enjoy yourself. I personally feel that the food is one of the things that makes the holidays complete. Don’t feel guilty for wanting to eat what you want to eat. Living a healthy life is important and I am working hard to get back on track, but trust me when I say that this holiday season I am going to enjoy all of the hot chocolate and cookies with no shame because I deserve it, and so do you!
I hope that this message sticks with you today and every day, and I hope you are all having a great December! Christmas is coming so quickly and although I am excited, I also don’t want it to end! I have some exciting blog posts coming up before the New Year, so stay tuned for those! Thank you so much for reading… now I am going to go find some chocolate!
