My Go-To Fall + Winter Shoes

Hey everyone! I hope you are having a beautiful day wherever you may be! I am very excited that fall has arrived because I find everything about this time of year so beautiful; the vibrant colors, the cool and crisp weather, and of course, the fashion! Today, I wanted to share some of my go-to fall and winter shoes! These are just a few pairs that I wear most frequently at this time of year!

  • Ankle Boots

I think that ankle boots are my absolute favorite shoes to wear, mostly during the fall! There are a variety of patterns and designs to choose from, and they can dress up any look! I own quite a few pairs, and while they all look pretty different, the one thing they all have in common is that they are heels. I am not a big fan of stiletto type heels, and I often prefer to wear chunky and short heels. I find that they are not only easier to walk in, but they are more comfortable as well. They are just as stylish, and they can be worn for many occasions!

  • Snakeskin patterned boots

Snakeskin has been trending for a little while now, and I finally got my hands on a pair of snakeskin ankle booties! These are so on trend right now, and I purchased mine from Just Fab! They were very affordable, and they are my newest obsession! I plan to wear them all season long! While they are a bit bold, and not typically something I would have reached for, I have completely fallen in love with them! If you haven’t tried out the snakeskin trend, I recommend it! Who knows, maybe you’ll surprise yourself like I did!

  • Knee-high boots

I would say that I wear these more in the winter, however I love that they can pretty much be worn with anything! I style knee-high boots with jeans, skirts, dresses, and shorts! Where I live, it does not get very cold in the fall, and in the winter we will sometimes have pretty warm days! One Christmas Eve, I was wearing shorts and a tank top with the AC on! Knee-high boots look great with almost every fall/winter outfit, and I prefer to wear simple black suede ones. As I mentioned, I like a little bit of a lift, so these have a chunky heel as well.

  • Combat boots

I love the edgy look of combat boots in the fall and winter! I own a pair of brown ones at the moment, however I am hoping to find a nice pair of black ones with silver detailing (feel free to leave recommendations below)! They can definitely look stylish and cute with dresses, shorts, or skirts, however, I enjoy wearing them with jeans the most! These shoes can spice up any look, and even make the most feminine outfit look edgy.

  • Pointed-toe boots

I love a professional look from time to time, and pointed-toe shoes are a simple way to make any outfit a bit more classy. I own a pair of black suede pointed-toe ankle booties, and I find myself reaching for them often. These shoes are very versatile as well! I know that some people are not a fan of this style, however, I like them because they are very fashionable and they can be worn for most occasions these days. They really are shoes that can go from day to night; from the office to dinner with the girls.

  • Flat boots (riding boots)

I was not exactly sure how to describe these shoes, however I wanted to include them because they are perfect for those of you who aren’t a fan of heels and prefer a simple yet cute fall/winter shoe! I have a pair of black flat riding boots that are perfect for this time of year. I do not wear them very often anymore, but they are a great option for those casual fall or winter days. If you do not enjoy wearing heels, these shoes are great, and they can be worn for special occasions or casual days running errands or going shopping.

  • Rain boots

Where I live, fall and winter are not incredibly rainy seasons, however I wanted to include these because I bought a pair of adorable chelsea rain boots earlier this year, and I think they are just adorable! I wore these when I went to France in March. It was a pretty rainy week while I was there, so these shoes were perfect because they kept me dry, and they are very stylish as well. I never thought rain boots could be stylish, but I have found that chelsea rain boots can be worn in rain or shine and with most outfits!

It rarely snows where I live, but if you live in a very snowy area, then of course, I recommend owning a nice pair of snow boots that will keep you warm and dry! There are definitely days when I prefer to simply wear sneakers over any of these shoes, however I would say these are my top favorite styles and pairs!

I hope that you enjoyed today’s blog post! Let me know what your go-to fall/winter shoes are! Until next time! (Check out my Instagram: @sacchere14) for a fun little video I made wearing some of the shoes!)

Summer to Fall Transition Outfits + Tips

Hey everyone! If you have been following and keeping up with my blog from the beginning, you may remember that I created a similar blog post around this time last year! I absolutely love the fall season, and I am excited to start breaking out my sweaters and booties!

For today’s blog post, I wanted to share a few outfits that can be taken from summer to fall. It’s not always easy to transition your wardrobe from season to season, but especially around this time of year (though it may depend on where you live). Where I live, summer can linger for a little bit longer than most people would like, however, around mid-September, (aka, right now), things finally begin to cool down!

I will be sharing three different looks that I took from summer to fall. The smallest details made these outfits much more suitable for fall, and I loved putting these looks together!

Outfit #1

For this first look, I took a patterned halterneck tank, a pair of denim shorts, and a pair of heeled colorblock sandals. I also decided to add some rose gold sunglasses to complete the look. I made a few small changes to this look, however I wanted to keep the top because it is actually a perfect transition piece for this time of year. It isn’t exactly hot outside, but it’s not too cold either, so I still like to wear sleeveless tops around this time of year. The colors in this top are dark and include both purple and blue, making it more fitting for fall! I then took my favorite pair of straight leg jeans, and tucked in the front of the top. I threw on a warm black cardigan (just in case it’s a cooler day outside). Layering is a great tip for this season, and it adds a cute and casual touch to any outfit. Lastly, I put on a pair of booties! These are simple taupe ankle boots that I adore and love to wear in the cooler months! This outfit can be worn for most occasions, but overall it is the perfect everyday fall look.

Outfit #2

I think this may be my favorite outfit of the three! To start, I took a simple forest green/emerald tank tucked into a pair of black paper bag shorts that tie at the waist. I had a pair of white sandals, and my favorite summer panama hat. I decided to keep the main pieces of this look the same, and change up and add accessories. I love the color combo of emerald and black, and once again, the color of this top is perfect for this time of year! I added a very light black wrap coat that I wear very often (it gives any look a bit more of a classy and professional vibe), and I am wearing my new snakeskin booties. Snakeskin has been trending for a little while now, and I had been wanting a pair of snakeskin boots so badly! I finally found a very affordable pair from Just Fab! I have become a big fan of hats this year, which is strange because I was never a hat person! I am obsessed with this black fedora that I purchased earlier this year! Whether it’s a fedora, a beret, or a cabby hat, it will complete your fall look beautifully.

Outfit #3

For the last outfit, I changed it up quite a bit! I started off with a simple black tie-front tank with a pair of navy patterned shorts. I love wearing white in the summer, so I wore my white Stan Smiths. I also added a cream colored cardigan. To transition this look, I swapped my shorts for a pair of black high waisted jeans, and I took off my cardigan for a beautiful light trench coat. I bought this coat when I was in France earlier this year, and it has become one of my favorite pieces of clothing that I own! It is perfect for fall, and it adds a bit of French flair to the look! Of course, no fall look is complete without boots (at least for me)! I went with black pointed toe booties. Any shoes with pointed toes can make an outfit instantly classy, and I love how comfortable these are! Lastly, to go along with the whole French vibe, I threw on a black beret, also purchased in France (call me a typical tourist)!

Some fall trends for 2020:

  • Preppy clothing
  • Metallics
  • Patchwork
  • Capes
  • Plaids
  • Snakeskin
  • Subtle fringe detailing
  • Lingerie inspired clothing
  • Embellishments
  • Drawstring details
  • Colored leather
  • Cutouts
  • Trending colors: rust, marigold, chartreuse, jewel tones

Thank you so much for reading today’s blog post! Leave me a comment and tell me which look is your favorite! Don’t forget to check out my Instagram, @sacchere14, to see a fun little transition video I made wearing these outfits!

My Top Ten Favorite Poets of Instagram

Those closest to me know that I have always had a love for writing. I’ve been writing since I was a little girl, but my love for poetry grew over the years and eventually, I began writing my own. I haven’t shared it with many people, but I do want to share it all soon (be on the lookout for more relating to this!)

As social media grew over the years, I have discovered so many talented writers through Instagram. I truly see social media as a very positive thing. While of course there are negative things about it, I find that for myself, social media keeps me in touch with friends and family, it inspires me, and it is a space for me to share whatever is on my heart. I try to use my platforms wisely and to share content with intention. Helping people is such a big goal for me, and if I could do that through my writing, nothing would make me happier.

When it comes to writing and poetry, I believe that there really are no rules. You don’t have to go by the book and do what everyone else is doing. I often write short little poems in my notes on my phone, and they may not rhyme or have a certain number of stanzas, but to me, it’s still poetry. I have always loved the way that writing can resonate with so many people. It often makes people feel less alone in this world. People can interpret words in different ways, and this can be helpful because they can then relate the words to their own personal lives. I love that there is a whole community of poets on Instagram, whether they are anonymous or open with their identity.

Today, I wanted to share my top ten favorite poets on Instagram. I follow so many poetry pages, so it was a bit difficult to narrow it down, but these are the pages that I chose to share with you today!

In no particular order…

@markanthonypoet

I absolutely love this poet because he often writes about love. His words are very encouraging and uplifting, and they bring me so much comfort. I love many of his short poems because although they may seem simple, they make me feel the most. Mark has multiple books including “The Beautiful Truth” and “True Love.”

@loveaprilgreen

I think that April may be one of my all time favorite poets on Instagram. She always words things so beautifully and I love the way that she focuses so much on personal growth and self-love. I find her poems to be very inspiring as well. I resonate with her words very often, and I always look forward to seeing what she creates. April also has three books titled “Bloom for Yourself” “Bloom for Yourself II: Let Go and Grow” and “Becoming a Wildflower: Poetry and Prose for Courage.”

@atticusxo

Atticus is well known in the poetry community. He is an anonymous poet and a New York Times Bestselling author. I have been following Atticus for quite some time now, and he has remained a favorite of mine. I highly recommend reading his beautiful words if you have not done so already. He has written multiple books including “The Truth About Magic” “Love Her Wild” and “The Dark Between Stars.” He also has a collection of tees, hats, jewelry etc. at his online store!

@j.ironword

Another poet I’ve been following for a while now! I absolutely love the way that this poet shares simple yet beautiful truths that we often forget. He very clearly pours his heart out into his words, and I always enjoy seeing his new posts! Check out his books “Abstract Heart” “She is Me” and “Live Loud, Love Loud.”

@beautaplin

I think that Beau was the first (or one of the first) poets I ever discovered on Instagram. I have one of his books, and I have always adored his writing. It is hard for me to explain why his poems speak to me so much, but it is so clear that every word was and is written so thoughtfully, and the end result is always captivating. Beau has many books, but to name a few: “Bloom” “Here at Dawn” and “Worlds Of You.”

@arianapoetess

What I love about Ariana is the way that her words truly speak to my soul. Her poetry is inspiring, and I love the theme of her content. Her photos are romantic and I love the simplicity and beauty of the flowers in many of her posts. Her words can bring peace, and when I read her poetry, I find myself sitting still for a moment to take in what I had just read.

@dthomasquotes

I have recently discovered this poet and fell in love with each post I would see. I love that Dane shares his poetry as well as little snippets of his personal life on his page. He keeps his posts very positive, which I love! I always try to keep my life positive, even on social media, so it is refreshing to see his content. If you are interested, Dane has a few books to check out: “In a World of Wishes” “Black and Blue” and “Light in the Darkness.”

@rafpoetry

I have found this poet somewhat recently, and I always look forward to seeing his poetry. His words are often simple yet motivational and stunning. He shares words of love and light, and they absolutely warm my heart.

@the.ace_

As a writer and influencer, Ace shares simple and short lines of poetry, and I really like when his posts show up on my feed. Although the lines are short, they can still resonate with the reader, and they are great daily reminders that I believe everyone should hear.

@priyakannan.offl

Another favorite poet of mine! She frequently shares short poems and statements that are always very inspiring to me. She will usually write longer poems in her captions, and I love the simplicity in her content’s theme as well. The words shared on this page make me feel a mix of emotions, and I think that great poetry and a great writer will do that to you. They makes you think, and their words make you feel.

These are just ten of my favorite poets on Instagram. I have so many more that I could have shared in this post, but I’ll save that for another day! I highly recommend checking out and supporting each of these poets and their work! You won’t regret it!

It is difficult to explain my love of poetry, but what I can say is that reading someone else’s words and having them resonate with your soul feels like magic. It feels like someone understands the words you are trying to say, so they create poetry out of it. Poetry is made from love, pain, and simply living life. It takes a special kind of soul to be a poet, for poets can reach deep into their souls, feel each and every emotion, and put them together in a way that makes readers feel seen, understood, and inspired.

Thank you so much for reading! Until next time!

The Problem with Overthinking

I always want my blog to be a safe space where I can openly share what is going on in my life. While I love sharing all of the positive moments I experience, I am human and I struggle a lot as well. I always talk about the importance and beauty of vulnerability, and today I am going to be opening up a bit more about my personal life and some struggles that I frequently face.

I have always been an overthinker; to the point where it has stopped me from doing certain things that I have really wanted to do. I wasn’t always so aware of the fact that I was an overthinker, but I would say that in the past few years, it is something I have become more aware of. It can be really difficult to control your thoughts, but eventually you may get to a point when you’ve had enough.

Most of the time, I am a very happy and positive person, however, I feel my emotions very deeply. This means that when I am happy, I am really happy. And when I’m upset, I am really upset. Many would describe me as “emotional”, but I’ve come to accept this as a strength rather than a weakness. As long as you have control over your thoughts and emotions, there is nothing wrong with allowing yourself to feel whatever it is that you’re feeling. When something is bothering me, I let myself get sad, angry, or frustrated. But I try to move on from these negative feelings sooner rather than later, because I don’t want to stay stuck in that mindset.

When it comes to overthinking, I’ve realized I do have a problem. Even when I am happy, I will sometimes start to overthink. This is when it can be most detrimental. If you are overthinking or worrying when you should be enjoying life’s highs, you could be (consciously or subconsciously) sabotaging some of the greatest things you will experience in life.

It is really challenging to turn off those negative thoughts sometimes, but I am doing much better than I used to. I think that recognizing the fact that there is a problem is a really great first step. Every time I begin overthinking or worrying about something a little too much, I try my best to shut down those thoughts. I don’t necessarily feel that overthinking is always a bad thing though. I would say that it’s better to overthink things a little bit than to not think at all. Overall, you should never let negative thoughts take over your life. You will never allow yourself to be happy if you do. Whether it is a relationship, a job, or a once in a lifetime opportunity, I never want to be the person who ruins something good by worrying about it.

Sadly, there is no off switch to overthinking, but there are things you can do to stop these thoughts in their tracks. I think that many people can relate to this, but when I have a little too much time on my hands, that’s when my mind starts racing. I like to keep myself busy when these thoughts come up. For myself, I enjoy writing, dancing, working out, listening to music, spending time with loved ones, and going on walks or hikes. These are activities that I participate in pretty much daily. Not only are these things good for me, but they really do help me get my mind off of anything negative, even if it is just for a little while. School is another thing that keeps me busy. I am in my final year of college and school work does take up quite a bit of my time. You should look for the things that make you happy. Focus on your passions, your goals, and what brings you the most joy, and follow that.

Any time I struggle with these thoughts and feelings, I try to remind myself that I am still growing, and I am human. I am doing my best, and that is all that matters. I don’t believe in suppressing my emotions. Whether they are good or bad, I allow myself to feel, and I think that this is something to be proud of. If you are anything like me and you overthink and worry about even the smallest things, know that you are not alone in what you are going through, and these things do not and never will define you. Just remember that you have control over your thoughts. If you notice that your thoughts are not helping you progress, you need to learn to recognize when you need to back away and focus on the positives. It isn’t always easy, and I have my great days and my not so great days. What matters is how you bounce back and that you are actively working to become your best self. Growth in every form is so important to me, and I want to continue to flourish and become the woman I know I am capable of being. The woman I am becoming does not let negativity cloud her mind, and she does not allow anxiety to rule her life. While these things may still affect me in the future, they will never affect me to this degree ever again, and that is because I am growing and evolving every single day. And I refuse to let stress, worry, or anxiety win.

This has been on my heart for a little while now, and I am really grateful that I have this space to share my thoughts and feelings. I hope that you found this post helpful, and I hope that you will pass along this message to someone who you believe needs to hear it. Thank you so much for reading today’s blog post!

Fabletics Review

Hey everyone! It’s no secret that I enjoy working out, and I love fashion. I love looking put together, even in the gym! Something about new workout gear can bring a lot of motivation, and today, I will be talking about and reviewing the brand Fabletics.

Since starting my fitness journey, I have discovered a few fitness brands that I love. Fabletics is definitely one of them, and today I will explain why. This brand was created in 2013, but I became a member in 2018. Keep in mind that I will simply share my opinion of the brand. The items that I own by this brand are not very new, but I will include a link to the Fabletics website so you can check out the site and the workout gear for yourself!

When you first sign up to become a VIP member, you will take a short quiz that asks questions such as “What’s your favorite way to get fit?” “What colors best match your style?” and “Which best mirrors your body type?” You will also be asked to put in your size preferences. By answering all of these questions, you will get more of a personalized selection!

When I subscribed to Fabletics, there was a 2 for $24 deal on leggings. This is what made me want to try the brand because fitness gear can be pretty expensive sometimes. Plus, I had heard great things about the brand. Subscribing is free, however, you can choose whether or not you want to skip the month or shop and pay $49.95 a month. (Remember, you only have until the 5th of every month to skip.) If you decide you want to shop, the charge becomes a VIP Member Credit you can redeem on purchases of $49.95 or more. You can also cancel your membership at any time.

I absolutely love the personalized and stylish gear that this brand offers, and every month, there are new items to check out! While I love all of the fun patterns and bright colors, I typically like to go for a more subtle look with my workout gear. I do own a few colorful and patterned pieces, but when it comes to my leggings, I like them to be a neutral color and I prefer a high-waisted style as well. I love that Fabletics focuses on the smaller details just as much as the larger ones. Little things like pockets and mesh detailing can make even the simplest leggings so much cuter. I have compared the prices to other fitness brands, and I would say that they fall into the average price range. Some of the items can be a bit pricey for me, but as someone who loves to shop, I have found ways to purchase clothing in more affordable ways. I always look for coupons, deals, and I shop sale items as well.

When it comes to sizing, I have struggled to find what works for me. In most leggings, I would say that I am a size small. With Fabletics, I do not believe this is the case. The three pairs of Fabletics leggings I own are all a size small, and they are just a bit too tight around my thighs. The problem is, they fit perfectly around my waist. I truly do love my legs, and they have gotten a bit bigger and stronger since I began weight training. This means that certain pairs of bottoms, whether they are jeans or leggings, can feel a bit tighter around my thighs. Their leggings do not have much give, so I am going to purchase a pair in a medium to see if this is a better fit for me. Of course, this is better than leggings that are too stretchy, because these often wouldn’t last. I’ve had the same problem with the sports bras. I ordered mediums, when I think smalls would have been just fine. I feel that the quality of Fabletics gear is pretty great, and the leggings seem to be long-lasting. Knowing your body size and taking measurements may be helpful to finding your perfect fit.

The leggings are adorable and trendy, and the ones that I own are squat proof (meaning that they are not see-through when squatting.) I have realized that my favorite pairs are seamless. I think that they are more flattering and comfortable. I am also a fan of full length or 7/8 leggings, and I would often choose these over capris or shorts.

I have styled all of my Fabletics items for you today. These are a few of my favorite looks to workout in. Again, these items are not new, but I wanted to show them anyway.

This first outfit is probably the most comfortable. I love the black seamless leggings and the simple details on the sports bra. The bright orange top is perfect for the warmer months, and I reach for tank tops the most when changing for a workout.

This next outfit is a bit more fun! I just love the floral pattern and the cutouts on this sports bra! Once again, I have a loose fitting tank that I will sometimes tie in a knot to make it more stylish. It has a very subtle pattern on it as well. These leggings are navy blue, and they are cropped. These are a bit too tight on me, but I still like to wear them on upper body days!

These are my most recent Fabletics pieces. I received this as a set for Christmas last year. I love matching sets, and these colors go together beautifully! The sports bra is bright pink with a high neckline and almost a fishnet/mesh detailing. It could even be worn as a crop top. I normally do not like long sleeved tops when I work out, but this one would be perfect for hikes in the colder months. I love the cutout detailing all over this top as well! The leggings are burgundy, and the cutouts match the top perfectly. Once again, these leggings are a bit too tight on me, but I still wear them from time to time.

Overall, I would recommenced trying out Fabletics. Their pieces are trendy and fun, yet subtly stylish at the same time. There really is something for everyone! They not only sell clothing, but shoes and accessories as well. Whether you are into weight training, yoga, or running, I feel that Fabletics is worth a try!

What’s in my August Ipsy Glam Bag

Hey everyone! This past week, my summer ended and I began my final year of college. I took a little time away from blogging to get into my new routine, but I am back with more content to share!

For today, I am sharing what is in my August Ipsy glam bag! This month, Ipsy shared that “the future is bright… look inside and see what kind of beauty tomorrow holds for you.” While I don’t necessarily think that this bag is the cutest, I do think that the holographic finish is pretty cool, and it goes perfectly with this month’s theme of the future.

Inside the bag:

Check out my Instagram, @sacchere14, to see a video of the makeup look I created using this month’s products!
  • Estate Cosmetics – Going Nutty Bronzer in Coco

I have been loving bronzers this summer, so I was really happy to see that this product was in my bag! This bronzer is the perfect color for my skin tone, and it was easily blendable as well! It didn’t look too harsh or muddy on my skin, which I appreciated. I didn’t expect this product to have a scent, but it smells amazing and it reminds me of the summer time! I rated this 5/5 stars.

  • Kaleido Cosmetics – Muse Skin – Ultra-Fine Pearl Illuminator in Goddess

I own a couple products from this brand, so I was hopeful when I saw that I received another! I have a slight obsession with glowing skin, and I feel that this is the perfect summer highlighter!  The golden shimmer completes a makeup look beautifully, and it is pigmented as well! I rated this product 4/5 stars.

  • Illamasqua – Powder Eyeshadow in Invoke

When I first saw this silver/charcoal color, I thought it was going to be a bit too dramatic for me. After applying it, I realized this wasn’t exactly the case. I love applying shimmer shades on my lids, and this one was gorgeous. It is not the most pigmented eyeshadow, but it worked really well for the look I was going for! I think it is the perfect shadow for special occasions and/or holidays! I rated this 4/5 stars.

  • Murad – Clarifying Cleanser

I was in need of a new cleanser, so I was happy to receive this. I have tried a couple products by Murad before, so I was looking forward to trying this one. I especially enjoy cleansing my face after wearing makeup or sweating during the day. While this one does not have the greatest scent, it does cleanse my face well, and I still plan on using it. It is not my favorite cleanser. I rated this 3/5 stars.

  • Glamglow – BRIGHTEYES Illuminating Anti-Fatigue Eye Cream (my pick)

I chose to receive this product this month because I have very dark under eye circles, so I am always looking for new eye creams to try. This is the kind of product that you need to use for a little while before fully reviewing it. I have been using this since I received my glam bag, however I can’t really say if I have noticed a difference with my under eye area. With this product, a little goes a very long way, and it does take a while to settle into the skin. If I had to rate this product at the moment, I would give it 3/5 stars (however this may change as I continue to use it.)

Thank you so much for reading! If you are an Ipsy member, comment below and tell me what you received in your August glam bag!

Go-To Glam Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share a makeup tutorial with you all. This has been my go-to glam look for a little while now! When creating this look, I decided to use all of my absolute favorite beauty products at the moment. You may have seen me talk about a few of these products before, but I had to include them because they have become favorites of mine!

This makeup look is somehow natural yet smokey at the same time. It can really be worn for any occasion, and at any time of year! Like most of my makeup tutorials, this one is pretty simple to do/follow along with!

For more photos, check out my Instagram @sacchere14
  • As always, I like to start with my eyes. I prefer to do my eyes before my face so that if there is any fallout or if I make any mistakes, I won’t ruin the entire look. If I am being honest, I don’t have a favorite eye primer, so I just like to use whatever I could find. I gently dab this onto and around my eyelids. (Remember to be very gentle around the eyes as it is such a sensitive area.)
  • Then, I move on to eyeshadow. For this look, I am using the gorgeous duo palette by Jules Smith Beauty in “Wise Guy and Gold Mine.” I am such a big fan of shimmer shades and neutral colors, so this duo is perfect for me. The colors are very pigmented, so a little goes a long way. I took a shadow brush and applied the lighter color all over my lids. I then took a crease brush and a very small amount of the darker color, and lightly applied this into my crease. I used a fluffy blending brush to blend the colors, creating a bit of a smokey look.
  • For mascara, I used my all-time favorite, which is the Thrive Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara. I rave about this product all the time because it is truly the BEST mascara I have ever tried. (If you would like to read more about it, check out my review here.) I simply curled my lashes and applied a couple coats to my top and bottom lashes, leaving them long and voluminous.
  • The next step was eyeliner. I used the Long-Lasting Eye Pencil by the brand Essence. I lined my waterline and tightline with black to add a bit more drama to the look. I use liners like this every time I do a full face of makeup.
  • Now we move on to the face! I recently tried out a new face primer that I very quickly fell in love with, and that is the Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer by Ciaté London. I love that this primer does exactly what it says it will do! It smells great and it leaves my skin feeling very refreshed. I then applied foundation. I talk about this one all the time, but I used my Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. This has been my go-to foundation for a few years now, and I still love it! I dotted this onto my face and then blended it out with a beauty blender. I used a bit of extra foundation under and around my eyes as a substitute for concealer.
  • Next, I went in with a loose powder. I applied the Bellápierre Banana Setting Powder to set my foundation and to help create a matte finish.
  • I was never the biggest fan of bronzer or contour, but I have been using a bit of bronzer in my makeup looks lately. I love the way it adds some color and glow to my skin! I used the Bronze Booster by Physicians Formula. What I love about this bronzer is that it isn’t too dark or too light for my skin tone, and it adds a subtle glow without looking muddy.
  • I absolutely love applying blush, so for this look, I took my Kaleido Cosmetics blush in the shade “Primadonna” and applied this to the apples of my cheeks. I blended in the color a bit to make it appear more natural.
  • I then used my favorite highlighter by Ofra x Madison Miller in the shade ”Moondance.” I took an angled brush and sweeped this onto my cheekbones, the tip of my nose, as well as my brow bones and the inner corners of my eyes.
  • I always like to apply chapstick before applying lipstick or gloss, but I don’t necessarily have a favorite. I used my Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick by Maybelline in the shade “Lover.” I adore matte lipsticks and Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand, so I reach for these often. I love this pink shade, and felt that it completed the look beautifully!
  • I naturally have full brows, so most of the time I will simply brush through them and let them be. I haven’t tried any brow products other than the Benefit Gimme Brow + Volumizing Brow Gel, which I will occasionally use.

Celebrating One Year of “Compass to Confidence”

Today makes one year since I started my blog, Compass to Confidence! I seriously cannot believe how fast this past year flew by! I remember how nervous I was to create this blog in the first place, let alone announce it to the world. I had never shared my writing with anyone before then. I felt that it was personal and private. While I do still keep some of my writing to myself, I’ve felt more joy by sharing it with others. Being able to help people through my writing was and is always one of my biggest goals. And as silly as it may sound, it feels like a dream come true.

Like many young girls, I kept a journal. I would write about my days, my friends, and whatever popped into my head really. As I got older, I started writing about my experiences as well as important lessons I was learning in life. I very quickly realized how much writing helped me emotionally and mentally. My journal was a safe space for me to comfortably share any and all of my thoughts and feelings.

Before creating my blog, I had a vision of what I wanted it to be as well as what I wanted it to look like. I did some research on blogging as well. From the get-go, I planned on writing about many topics. Based on my research, this was not the best decision for me to make, however I went against the advice of sticking to a specific niche. I wanted to write about my interests, and I have more than one that I am passionate about. Fashion, health, beauty, travel, and entertainment. These are the things I wanted to talk about (as well as some personal writings found in the “Grab a Chair” section of my blog). The reason many people advise to choose one niche is because these are the blogs that are more likely to be “successful” and to gain a loyal following. Well, I decided to go with what I wanted to do. Even if that means that this blog will never take off, I will still be happy sharing my writing with whoever would like to read it. In its own way, no matter what happens, this blog with always be a success to me.

When I first started writing for my blog, I realized that I was no longer my audience. Anyone in the world could be reading my words. While I still wanted to keep my writing personal, I’ve had to learn how to transition my writing from “How is this going to help me” to “How is this going to help my readers?” While people may be interested in my personal life, I think many people would like to read things that not only interest them, but are written for them. That is where I come in, sharing my own tips and advice through my passions.

Although it may seem like I do not have my own niche, I think I’ve come to realize that I absolutely do; it’s self-love. The whole reason I created my blog in the first place was to help others gain self-confidence while simultaneously being on that journey myself. I want to uplift and inspire others. I wanted this blog to become a place where women could come to receive advice, motivation, and a little bit of a self-love boost. Not only did I feel that making this all about self-love would help others, but I felt that it would help me too. This blog has brought so much joy and confidence to my life. And I want myself and my readers to walk hand in hand, so we can guide each other in the direction of self-love. I have been on my own self-love journey for quite a few years now. I’ve seen the beautiful effects of loving myself and what it has brought to my life. Everyone deserves to know this feeling, and I hope that by being a self-love advocate, I can inspire others to start that journey to confidence as well. Once you start loving yourself, everything around you will change for the absolute best. It starts with that first step.

By sharing my passions, giving tips, and inspiring others to become confident, I have crossed an item off of my bucket list, reached a major goal of mine, and followed my dream. I have been connected with some incredible women through social media, and they have been so very supportive of me. It is such a beautiful and powerful thing when women support other women, and I am grateful for all that blogging has brought to my life.

One thing that I have always loved about reading other people’s words is the way it resonates with me. I always hoped someone would read my words, and it would have the same effect on them. I always get so excited to share new blog posts, so much that I constantly talk about it to my loved ones. I really try to share my best writing on my blog, and I am proud of each and every post that I share with you. I’ve grown so much since I first began blogging one year ago. I am very proud of how far I’ve come, and the fact that I chose to share my writing with the world despite being a bit fearful and nervous.

I wanted to share this post with you to celebrate one year of Compass to Confidence, and to say thank you! Thank you to my loyal readers who come back to read every new blog post, and thank you to those who stop by occasionally. If you’re new here, welcome! I hope that you will stick around and walk alongside me on this beautiful journey. I’ve had a passion for writing since I got my first journal, and that spark I had as a little girl has turned into the biggest and brightest fire. It’s a dream that I will never put out. I want to let that fire burn and burn for the rest of my life. It is a passion that I refuse to let go of or give up on. I have many plans and goals for my website, so I hope that you will continue to come back every week for more fresh content.

Thank you so much again. You don’t know how happy this blog has made me. And I can’t even begin to explain the good that has come my way because of it. Here’s to another year of blogging!

(Shoutout to my loved ones. Your support and love means the absolute world to me, and I hope that you are proud of me and where I am headed. I love you guys!)

If you find that your compass points to confidence, I hope that you will choose to follow it. Thank you for reading! Until next time!

Styling One Bodysuit Four Different Ways

Hey everyone! I am very excited for today’s blog post! Today I am going to be sharing four different looks that I have created using one bodysuit. I know that some people are not the biggest fans of bodysuits, but I feel that every girl should own at least one!

For each outfit, I decided to wear a simple black bodysuit. Since this piece is one solid color, it makes it a bit easier to style, however, I may change things up in the future! A bright red or patterned bodysuit would be trickier to style, but I’m up for the challenge! 😉 The outfits that I am sharing with you today are very different, yet they are all very much my style. They are perfect for the end of summer as well!

Outfit #1

Without a doubt, this look is my favorite of the four! Something about wearing all black can just make you feel powerful and confident! With the simple black bodysuit, I wore a pair of paperbag shorts with a tie to cinch in my waist. I threw on a wrap coat that I wear very frequently as well. It is made of a very light material, so it can still be worn on warmer days. For accessories, I went with my go-to black block heels, and a pair of cat eye sunglasses to complete the look.

Outfit #2

For this look, I wanted to go for something with a bit of a boho edge. This look is perfect for those cool summer days!  To go with the bodysuit, I wore some patterned palazzo pants. These pants are incredibly comfortable and stylish, and I love that they are made of a lighter material. Though the look is stylish, it also feels as if you are walking around in pajamas! As for accessories, I wore my black wide brim fedora, a pair of gold flip flops, and my round 70’s inspired sunglasses!

Outfit #3

This is a look that I would definitely rock during the summertime! I am a big fan of skirts and dresses, so I had to include this outfit! I absolutely love this pleated royal blue mini skirt. It adds a pop of color that I adore as well! The skirt adds such a feminine touch, and this is a look that I like to go for often. For the accessories, I wore the same black heels from the first outfit, and a classic black and white purse.

Outfit #4

This last look is definitely the most casual of them all. It even gives off a bit of a sporty vibe, which I do like to go for sometimes! I paired the bodysuit with my favorite high waisted denim shorts. These are a staple in my wardrobe, and I reach for them all the time! I also added a cream colored cardigan to make the look a bit more fun. Lastly, I decided to wear my Stan Smith sneakers because they would match any outfit, and I love wearing anything white in the summer!

Leave me a comment below and tell me which look is your favorite! Thank you so much for reading!
