BH Cosmetics “Hangin’ in Hawaii” Eyeshadow Palette Review + Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone! I am very excited for today’s blog post because I am doing a review of one of my favorite beauty products! Last year, I discovered the travel series collection by BH Cosmetics, and I fell in love! I first bought the “Love in London” palette, and I did a review and tutorial with this last year so click here to check that out! Since then, I have been dreaming of purchasing the other palettes in this collection. Within this collection, there are a variety of eyeshadow and highlight palettes relating to different travel destinations! Some of the names of these pallets are: “Glowing in Greece”, “Illuminating in Ireland”, and “Blushing in Bali”. I’m hoping to purchase the “Beautiful in Barcelona” palette next!

For today’s review and tutorial, I will be sharing the “Hangin’ in Hawaii” eyeshadow palette. I really wanted this one in particular because I absolutely love the colors! There is a perfect mixture of shimmer shades and matte shades, and a variety of browns, golds, pinks, and oranges. I also feel that these colors look really great on brown eyes which I have. Since I adore the “Love in London” palette, I knew that this one wouldn’t disappoint, but I still wanted to take the time to review it for those of you looking to buy it!

Review:

I am such a big fan of the travel series collection and this palette is definitely a favorite of mine! There is such a wide variety of shades and you can create so many different makeup looks with this one palette! If you are like me and you tend to go for more neutral makeup looks, then I would definitely recommend purchasing this palette out of all the others in the collection; I believe that you will get more use out of this one. I really like that there are so many shades of brown and gold because these are the colors I go for most often, but then you have the fun pops of color within the palette as well (in case you decide to go bold). There are 16 stunning shades! A few of my favorites are: Pineapple, Sandy, Lei, Mahalo, and Honolulu. I love that the names all relate to Hawaii (each palette names the colors after certain things within that destination, which I think is so fun)!

All of the shades in this palette are extremely pigmented and so beautiful on the eyes! I was very impressed with the color payoff, even with the shimmer shades (because often times these are much less pigmented). It is good to keep in mind that the shimmer shades are very sparkly. While I happen to love this look, I am aware that not everyone does. Luckily, there are plenty of matte shades to try! None of the colors are very chalky or difficult to apply. When applying the shadows, you really don’t need to pack it on; a little goes a long way! You can always add more because these shadows are very buildable. Many reviews I have read said that there can be a lot of fallout with these shadows, but I really didn’t notice that. Either way, I always recommend doing your eye makeup before your face makeup (that way if you make a mistake or you do have some fallout, you won’t be ruining your fresh face makeup). One important characteristic of eyeshadows for me is blendability. I enjoy creating makeup looks using multiple shades, and I never like my eye makeup to look harsh. The shadows are very easy to blend out, so you’ll never have to worry about harsh lines or difficulty with blending! If you grab a fluffy crease brush you should be good to go!

Overall I highly recommend purchasing this palette! It is perfect for an everyday natural look or a look for a night out, and it screams summer to me! Also, this product is extremely affordable, and the fact that you’re getting 16 different shades in this one palette is amazing! You can purchase this palette here!

Makeup tutorial:

Lately, I haven’t been doing any crazy makeup. I used to go full glam almost every time I did my makeup but for a little over a year now, I’ve really loved the look of natural, glowy makeup. Well, today I decided to do something a bit different and get out of my comfort zone. I normally do not wear very much color on my eyes, but I wanted to have some fun with this look!

  •  To start, I gently applied an eye primer all over my lids. This will not only help to keep the shadows on all day, but it will also make the colors pop. I always use my ring ringer and tap rather than rub (keep in mind the skin around the eyes is very sensitive, so you should never be rough with it).
  • Then I took my “Hangin’ in Hawaii” palette by BH Cosmetics, and used my first shade, “Waikiki”. I used a shadow brush and decided to apply this shade all over my lids. It looks like a subtle gold shade in the palette, but on the eyes it is more of a bright, almost yellow gold.
  • Next, I took the shade “Lei” which is a gorgeous coral/orange color, and with a fluffy crease brush, I applied this into my crease, bringing it up a bit closer to my brow bone for a smokey effect. I noticed that this color was overpowering the gold, so I decided to add more of the color “Lei” to my inner and outer lids. I took “Waikiki” and only applied it right at the center of my lids for a pop of shimmer. This made the transition of colors look a lot less harsh, but you could still see each color I was using.
  • I wanted to add another pop of color, so I chose to go with the shade “Paradise”, which is a gorgeous bright pink. I took a smaller and more defined crease brush and applied this right into my crease. I chose to keep this color in my crease rather than blending it up to my brow bone like I did with the previous shade. Then I blended all of the colors together to create a smooth and smokey look.
  • I then took a liner brush and applied that same bright pink shade on the outer corner of my lower lash line, as well as a shade “Luau” on the inner part of my lower lash line.
  • The last step for eyeshadow was to apply a highlight shade to my brow bones and inner corners of my eyes. I decided to go with the shade “Hula” because it is a light shimmer shade, perfect for this exact step.
  • After, I curled my lashes and went in with my favorite mascara at the moment, and that is the L’Oréal Telescopic mascara. I always go for black because I love how it adds some drama to my eyes. This mascara does a great job of lengthening and separating my lashes! Then I took my Long-Lasting Eye Pencil by Essence in “Black Fever”, and used this to line my waterline and tightline, bringing even more drama to the eyes.
  • Once I completed my eye makeup I moved on to my face. I used my Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base and gently massaged this into my skin. Then I took my favorite foundation which is the Maybelline Fit Me, and I used a beauty blender to dab this into my skin. I always like to use extra foundation under my eyes since I don’t always use concealer.  I used my Banana Setting Powder by Bellapierre Cosmetics to set my foundation.
  • Next I took my bronzer by the brand Estate in the shade “Coco” and using an angled contour brush, I applied a little bit of this right along my cheekbones and hairline, up to my forehead to give my face a bit more definition and color.
  • To brighten up my complexion I used a blush by Lottie London in the shade “Serene”. I love this blush because it isn’t too bright or bold but it adds a beautiful natural glow to my face. Is the perfect light pink shade for this time of year. After, I used a highlighter by Kaleido Cosmetics in the shade “Goddess”, and applied it right above my cheekbones to give me the glow that I am always after!
  • Then I applied the “It’s the (Lip) Balm” by the brand Clearly Balanced Days. I always like to apply chapstick before applying any other lip product because it helps other products go on smoothly and it keeps my lips hydrated underneath. I decided to go with my current favorite lipgloss by NYX cosmetics in the shade “Bit of Honey”. This is such a perfect nude gloss, and it can go so well with any makeup look! Since the eye makeup is so busy, I decided to keep the rest of my makeup (face and lips) a bit more natural.
  • The last step was to simply brush my eyebrows (but if you like to apply brow gel or fill them in, you definitely can).

When I sat down to do my makeup, I wasn’t exactly sure where I was going with it. I had a plan but I wasn’t sure that it would turn out great. In the end, I was very pleased with the look that I created, and I fell in love with the fun and bright eye makeup! I’ve missed playing around with makeup and trying out new looks, so I really wanted to share this one with you today because it’s a bit different for me! It took me a while to get used to seeing bright orange shades on my eyes, but I think it looked pretty with my eye color!

I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and that it gave you some beauty inspo! Be sure to check out the “Hangin’ in Hawaii” palette by BH cosmetics (the brand has made some changes to the packaging)! Or, you can take a look at the other items in the travel series collection! Thank you so much for reading!

How to Create Your Own Blog

Hey everyone! I hope you are all having a lovely day, wherever you may be! For today’s post, I thought it could be helpful to share some tips on how to create your own blog! I first started blogging back in August of 2019, and I have continued working on it ever since. It is something I am very proud of, and as a writer, I love having a space to share whatever is on my heart. Before creating my blog, I put a lot of thought into what I wanted it to truly be, and I’ve learned so much along the way. Please keep in mind that I am certainly not an expert and I do not know everything, however through my own research and experience as a blogger, I believe that these tips may be valuable to you.

Make a plan

Before ever creating my blog, I thought long and hard about what I wanted my blog to look like, what I wanted it to be about, and who I wanted it to reach. There are so many questions you need to ask yourself before you start. I had been wanting to create my blog for a long time, but I only started to seriously think about it in early 2019, so I made a plan for myself. I thought about my own passions and what I believe to be my purpose in life. I truly feel that I was born to write and to help others, so that was going to be my top priority. I was also at a point in my life when I really recognized the importance of self-love and confidence. I knew that it was a journey that I was so happy to be on, and I wanted to share that with others. After so much planning, over thinking, and dedication, I started to create my blog, Compass to Confidence, where I would share my passions, give tips, and inspire people to become confident.

Pick your niche

When I began researching about how to create a successful blog, I remember reading up on “niches” and how this can help you find your true audience. Well, I had a different idea for my blog. I have so many interests and passions, and I knew that I did not want to create a blog that was only about fashion or fitness; I wanted to share it all. The only downside is that by writing about multiple topics, rather than one or two, it could be difficult to attract a large audience. I understood this, and I knew that it might hinder my chances of having a successful blog, however I am still glad that I made the decision that I did. I am able to write whatever I want, and this is what makes me happy. I know not everyone who checks out my website will be interested in beauty or health, but I believe that there is something for everyone. Although this is the direction I decided to go in, I would recommend picking your niche. I would try to narrow it down to one or two topics, making sure that they are things you can write about frequently. However, if you’re like me and you are determined to write about multiple topics, you definitely can (as long as you understand how it may affect your blog).

Pick your hosting site & register your domain

The first step to actually create your blog is to pick a hosting site and register your domain. There are a variety of hosting sites out there, such as Wix, GoDaddy, or Bluehost, to name a few popular choices. I chose to create my blog with WordPress and I registered my domain through this site (most of the time, your hosting site will help you register your domain). Once a year, I have to pay not only for my domain, but also for my hosting site, and there are different plans you can choose from (such as basic, business, etc).

Think about spending some money

If you’d like to take blogging seriously, you may want to think about spending some money to enhance your blog. Most of the time, if you choose to create a blog that is completely free, you are very limited in your options, and your overall site may not look exactly how you want it to. Also, there are many widgets that will not be available to you. You really do not have to spend a ton of money, but if you hope to create a successful blog, this may be the right step. If you want to create a blog simply as a hobby, and it is not something you want to take very seriously, then spending money may not be your priority, and that’s ok!

Keep your site simple & user-friendly

If you were to go to a website where you couldn’t locate the menu, there were too many pop-ups, and it was overall difficult to navigate, would you choose to go back to that site? Probably not. Think about your readers. It is ok to make your website your own and to have fun creating it with different widgets; you just don’t want to go overboard. Your website can be aesthetically pleasing and professional while simultaneously being user-friendly. At the end of the day, your readers want to see your content, but if it takes them 20 minutes just to find your latest post, there is a good chance they won’t be subscribing to you.

Create a blogging schedule

From the very beginning, I decided that I would share a blog post at least twice a week. I like to post every four days, and I try to change this up often. For example, if I share a post about fashion, then my next few posts are most likely going to be about a different topic (such as travel, entertainment, or beauty), though it doesn’t always work this way. If you are sticking to your specific niche, the same rule applies. People want to see something different, so do your best to plan out your posts, and don’t be afraid to get creative and try new things! I feel that creating a blog schedule will really help to keep you on track. Successful bloggers post frequently and they are always coming up with new ideas. I like to jot down a ton of ideas in my phone and I plan out blog posts for the months ahead. By doing this, I give myself time to plan out my posts, to write them, and to take photos/videos for them. I recommend having a planner for your blog as well!

Create eye-catching content (photos, videos, etc.)

This is something that I am still working on, however I would say that I have definitely gotten better with it! Taking great photos/videos will help attract your audience, plus, it makes your blog look more professional. You do not need any fancy equipment, especially if you are just starting out. Using your cellphone should work well! If you have great editing skills, then you can also use this to enhance your photos. You can stick to a theme, or change things up often. I like to change the photos on my homepage every season, and I stick to a certain theme with these photos as well.

Promote your blog posts

Social media is a fantastic way to promote your blogs. I share each new post on all of my social media platforms. By doing this, I can reach more people who have similar interests. I also try to utilize the different tools on social media such as Instagram reels, hashtags, and stories. I also like to look at my analytics (for my social media and my website) to see where my followers are coming from. I really like to plan out my posts ahead of time by figuring out the best way to promote my blogs.

Write for an audience

This is something I was able to learn pretty quickly, but I feel that many writers who are just starting out may struggle with this. As someone who has been writing in journals her entire life, I knew that when I started blogging, I needed to know how to write for an audience. I feel that through writing, I am always able to help myself, however it my goal to inspire and uplift others. I have found a way to not only write for myself, but for my readers as well. Something I like to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t always get too personal, and you should remember that most people will read your blog because of how it will benefit them. As a blogger/writer, you should ask yourself: what can my readers get out of this post?

I really hope that you found these tips helpful, and I highly recommend creating your own blog! It gives you the space to share your writing, no matter your interests/passions! Make sure to do your research ahead of time, and plan, plan, plan (just don’t over think too much like I did)! It does take a lot of effort and time, but if this is something you truly want to start, then you should definitely go for it! Thank you so much for reading!

Spring Outfit Ideas

Hey everyone! I have been so excited to share this post with you all because it is finally my favorite season! Anyone else feel like they thrive once the warmer weather comes around?!

Today I will be sharing 4 different spring outfit ideas! While they are all different, they are all very me, and hopefully you will find inspiration through at least one of these looks!

Outfit #1:

This first look is bright and perfect for this time of year! I absolutely adore this top! It is mustard yellow with a blue and white floral design all over. The little pops of blue are very pretty, and I love the style of this top, particularly the ruffled sleeves and the unique neckline! It is very lightweight as well, so it will keep me cool during the warmer months. I bought this at Old Navy around Christmas time, and it was on sale! I decided to pair this top with some high waisted denim shorts. I style many outfits around denim shorts, especially in the summer, but if it’s still a bit cool out, then jeans will work as well! For my shoes, I went with my simple nude block heels. I love these because they are so easy to wear, and they make the outfit a bit more feminine, which I love! And lastly, for my accessory, I chose to wear my adorable shoulder bag from H&M. It is brown and beige, and I think it goes so well with the entire outfit!

Outfit #2:

For this outfit, I wanted to keep it a bit more casual. For the past year or so, I’ve loved wearing muscle tanks (not athletic ones, unless I’m working out of course). I own a few nice ones, and when I saw this coral/pink one on sale at Old Navy recently, I knew I needed to have it! It is such a beautiful color for the spring time, and once again, it is lightweight. I wear these tops to lounge around the house, and also to go out for any casual events/activities. I paired it with a loose gray cardigan for those cool spring days. For my bottoms, I went with my absolute favorite pair of jeans! I bought these at PacSun last year, and I am still obsessed! They are high waisted, ripped, and a lighter wash. For my shoes, I went with the same nude block heels from the previous outfit!

Outfit #3:

This next look is very chic and feminine. I wanted to center this look around my favorite spring coat. I have had this for quite some time now, and I still think it is just gorgeous! It is a dusky pink color and the lining on the inside has a beautiful floral design, which is my favorite part! It has pockets and a belt made of the same material to help define the waistline. For my top, I went with a simple gray t-shirt, however black, white, or beige would look great under this particular coat. I decided to go with a pair of skinny jeans for this look. These are a light wash pair from H&M. I normally do not go for skinny jeans anymore, but for me, it depends on the outfit. I went with a pair of taupe heels to complete the look. I really enjoy wearing heels that are a bit more chunky because they tend to be more comfortable! Lastly, I wore a simple pair of black sunglasses.

Outfit #4:

This last outfit is definitely my favorite! It is so fun and stylish as well! I decided to style this adorable polka dot jumpsuit! It is navy blue and white, and I feel that it looks very flattering on my body. It comes with a belt made of the same material, and I like that this cinches in my waist. I also really like that the pant legs are a bit more wide toward the bottom, bringing me more comfort. For my shoes, I went with my black block heels. I wear these all the time, and I just think they are so classic! I also paired this outfit with my favorite bag! It is a Kate Spade crossbody, and the bright peony pink color is just stunning for spring (though I’d wear this at any time of the year)! It is definitely a statement piece when worn with a neutral outfit. And to complete the look, I chose to wear the same black sunglasses from outfit #3!

I hope you enjoyed reading today’s blog post and that it inspired you to step up your spring wardrobe! I had so much fun putting these looks together, and I think they all work so well for most occasions/events! Check out my Instagram, @sacchere14 to see a new reel I made wearing these outfits!

Thank you so much for reading! Let me know which look is your favorite in a comment below!

My March Ipsy Glam Bag

Hey beauty lovers! I am very excited to share yet another glam bag with you all! I will be sharing and reviewing each product I received from Ipsy for the month of March.

This month, Ipsy wanted their members to celebrate Women’s History Month with some new beauty products that would make us feel strong and empowered. I absolutely loved the theme and bag! I really like that Ipsy recognizes the importance of equality among genders, and that they always focus on important events/issues all while giving members a chance to try new beauty products! The bag is a nude color with four different women holding hands on it, which I think is a powerful design choice. The lining of the bag is a bright red, and on the inside, there is an important message: “Confidence comes from within”. My overall rating for this month’s bag would be 3/5 stars because I felt that I was given a couple products that I really did not want or need.

Inside the bag:

  • Belle En Argent – 8 Free Nail Polish in Like A Grape

In my beauty quiz, I stated that I would rarely like to receive nail polishes, and I haven’t gotten one in a bag in a long time. I do not really like receiving nail polishes because I don’t typically paint my own fingernails (I either leave them natural or go get them done at a salon). I do however, paint my toenails, so I will be using this for that! I think that the color is really beautiful  for the spring time and the packaging is very sleek. It is a very pigmented nail polish, and I would only need a couple coats. I would rate this nail polish 4/5 stars, but I prefer to receive other beauty products!

  • Ciate London – Fruit Burst Lip Oil in Lychee & Acai

I have tried multiple products by this brand, and I really like the ones I own! I had never tried a lip oil before, so I was curious as to how it would help and if I would like it. This product is made with acai oil, avocado oil, and lychee extract, and it is meant to deeply hydrate the lips. This is the perfect combination of a lip oil and a gloss because it will hydrate your lips while giving them a glossy and pink tinted finish. I really liked the scent and the subtle and natural sheen that it added to my lips. It also was not sticky, and it has a nice, subtle scent! I do wish it lasted a tiny bit longer before drying though! I would rate this product 4/5 stars.

  • Clearly Balanced Days – Its the (Lip) Blam with CBD in Peppermint

I was sort of surprised that I received two lip products this month; both picked by Ipsy. I did not need a chapstick, so I was not too pleased to see this. I have been using it multiple times, and I was actually surprised to find that I really liked it! I would have preferred a scent that was more sweet or fruity rather than peppermint, however this chapstick keeps my lips smooth for long periods of time, and it is exactly what my lips needed after winter! This product is infused with essential oils, and it leaves my lips feeling smooth and hydrated. I always like to apply chapstick underneath my lipsticks/glosses, so I will be reaching for this one quite often. I would rate this product 5/5 stars.

  • Lottie London – Ombre blush in Serene (my pick)

This was the product that I chose to receive for this month. Although I haven’t been wearing a ton makeup lately, one thing that can completely change up any makeup look is blush! It just adds some color to your face, and I think it completes a look beautifully. I fell in love with the color of this blush. It is a peach/pink shade with some glitter in there as well. I think it is perfect for the spring time, and it is pretty and pigmented. While applying it, I did find that it was slightly difficult to blend out, so this is a product that you should try to build up, rather than applying too much all at once. I would rate this blush 4/5 stars.

  • Purlisse Beauty – Matcha Green Tea Antioxidant Priming Moisturizer

I really did not need another face primer, however I wanted to try this one out. I liked that the consistency was smooth and that it was lightweight on my skin. It is oil-free, and it is made with antioxidant-rich matcha green tea, soothing white tea, and vitamin E to nourish the skin. I do feel that it hydrated my skin, and I also really liked the scent; it wasn’t too powerful. Overall, I would rate this product 4/5 stars.

  • Naked Cosmetics – Pressed Pigments Eye Shadow in Desert Sunset (extra product)

Since I had enough points (due to rating my bags and products for months), I decided to get an extra item for free! I always enjoy receiving new eyeshadows, and this one looked absolutely gorgeous! I couldn’t have picked a better name for this shadow because it describes the color perfectly. It is a champagne/dusky pink shade, and I think it would look great for any spring or summer makeup looks. You can center an entire look around it or you can add some finishing touches with it. While this product is very pigmented, I noticed that it almost applied like a cream shadow, which I thought was a bit strange. It was a little blotchy in a couple areas, so I had to continue applying and making sure that I covered my entire lid and crease. For the most part, I really loved how it looked in the end. The rose gold was absolutely stunning, and this is a color that I adore wearing during the warmer months and when I am tan!

That is all for my March Ipsy glam bag! I really hope that you enjoyed this post! I am very excited for the content that I plan to share in April! I am hoping to stick with my blogging schedule, however April is my last month of college, and I will be graduating in May, so life is a bit stressful at the moment. I will do my absolute best to continue posting for you all. Thank you for reading!

My Trip to Peru

Hey everyone! Today I have another travel post for you all! I always enjoy writing these posts because it gives me a chance to relive my trips through photos and videos! I like to look back in order to remember certain events and to simply reminisce on wonderful experiences! Today, I am going to be sharing my trip to Peru with you all! (All photos in this post were either taken by me, or a family member.)

In June of 2018, my family and I went on a trip to Peru! This was quite the surprise, and I was thrilled because I knew I was going to be doing more exploring, and that by going on this trip, I would be able to check another item off of my bucket list! None of us had ever traveled to South America before, so we were really looking forward to it. Of course, before I travel anywhere new, I really like to do some research on the country, the culture, the people, the food, etc. Doing this makes me more knowledgeable, and I also feel that it is respectful to learn as much as you can before going to new places (you never want to make others uncomfortable or do something that can be seen as disrespectful).  I was able to learn so much, and I even shared the information with my family. For example, I learned that due to the elevation in Cusco, some people who travel there may feel a bit nauseous or out of breath for some time.  Also, it was important to keep in mind that when it is summer in North America, it is winter in South America, so even though we went in June, we had to pack some warm clothes!

For those of you who do not know, my grandma is from Spain, so my mother’s side of the family is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. This was very helpful for us while we were away. Even though you do not necessarily have to speak a certain language in order to travel to a different country, I feel that people should at least learn the basics (hello, goodbye, thank you etc.) in order to be respectful. The locals in Peru mostly spoke Spanish, however they did speak some English in the areas with a lot of tourists. For those of us who don’t speak Spanish, we were still able to communicate somewhat easily.

We soon arrived in Peru, and our first stop was Cusco. We arrived at our gorgeous hotel called Niños Hotel Meloc. Although we were all feeling pretty tired and jet lagged, we were ready to do some exploring! In order to beat any altitude sickness, the hotel staff gave us all coca leaf tea. Luckily, we all felt fine, however this is not the case for many visitors.

I fell in love with this beautiful city! It was vibrant, exciting, and there was so much history surrounding us. The people were amazing, and there always seemed to be some sort of event or celebration going on, and the locals were wearing colorful, traditional clothing. I loved walking down the streets of Cusco and seeing the incredible Spanish colonial architecture. I really loved walking through the Plaza de Armas! Nightlife in Peru was unique to anything I had ever seen before. Many young people would be out dancing in the streets, all in sync with one another. We stopped to watch and I remember in these moments, I just felt really grateful to be able to experience a new culture. That night, we all went out for ice cream at a place called Qucharitas ice cream shoppe, and we all agreed that we needed to go back for more before we left Cusco (it was that good)! One moment that stood out me while in Cusco, was when we found ourselves walking through an open-air market.  It was interesting to see because it was not something that I was used to, and we were able to see how the locals lived their everyday lives.

The next day, we were able to go see the statue of Christ (or Cristo Blanco) standing tall on top of a mountain, guarding the city. The view from this spot was breathtaking, and I although you can see the statue from many different spots in Cusco, I feel that it’s worth it to get up close. The statue also glows at night, which I thought was really beautiful. After, we went back to the Plaza de Armas to see if any events were taking place, and to take some more photos. We saw the Statue of Pachacuti, who was the ninth ruler of Cusco, and later on, the Emperor of the Inca Empire. He is a very important figure in the history of Peru, so we sat on the steps for a photo.

Throughout our time in Peru, we saw many alpacas walking around, which I absolutely loved! I thought they were so adorable, and we even stopped to take a couple photos holding the baby alpacas! Next, we decided to stop by the Qorikancha museum, which I found so interesting. The architecture was absolutely beautiful as well. Once again, we were able to get a gorgeous view of the city from here!

The day after, our driver took us to multiple locations where we were able to see some of the Incan ruins of Peru. This was a truly incredible experience, and we really enjoyed traveling around to see the stunning views and ruins. At one point on our tour, while we were in the car, a herd of sheep stood in our way in the middle of the road! We had to slow down and let them pass, and I thought they were just adorable! We were able to see the Pisac Ruins in the Sacred Valley, and being there felt so unreal. It was so beautiful and peaceful, and I could have sat there admiring the view all day long. We also stopped to see the Maras Salt Mines. These ancient salt pans have been around for over 500 years, and I thought it was so cool to learn about. This day-long tour ended with our driver taking us to our next stop, which was a town called Ollantaytambo.

We spent a couple nights in the small village, and we also traveled up the hillside to walk along the Ollantaytambo ruins. It was here that we were all given pisco sours to try at a restaurant in the town. This is a classic Peruvian cocktail, and these are given out at many restaurants throughout the country. Although I don’t really drink alcohol, I actually enjoyed this!

After, we made our way to a town called Aguas Calientes, which is where tourists stay in order to see Machu Picchu! I was so excited because this was something that I had been wanting to see for a long time. We all woke up around 4 in the morning so that we could see the sun rise over the famous Inca ruins. Our hotel was giving out breakfast to-go, so we took our food and stood in a long line of tourists, eager to get to Machu Picchu. We were on the bus for a little while, but soon enough we arrived! I couldn’t believe what was standing right in front of me. We decided to explore the ruins on our own, which was amazing, and then a few of my family members decided to hike Huayna Picchu. I decided not to, due to my fear of heights. Later on, those family members told us that there were steep and narrow steps toward the top of the mountain called the “Stairs of Death”, so I personally think that I made the right decision. If this doesn’t scare or intimidate you, then you should definitely try this hike. The view at the top looked amazing.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Afterward, we went out to eat. Before arriving to Peru, I was not sure that I would enjoy the food, however I was pleasantly surprised. The food in Peru was so delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed most of my meals! Aguas Calientes really caters to tourists because the town is full of restaurants and gift shops (this is most likely because many people have to stay there to see Machu Picchu). The restaurants in this town definitely seemed a bit fancier, and the presentation of each dish was really unique and pretty! I found myself trying certain foods that I would normally avoid, and I thought it was all so tasty!

For the second week of our trip, we went to Máncora, which is a resort town right near the border of Peru and Ecuador. The reason it wasn’t cold in this location is because we were right by the equator, where it’s warm all year long. We stayed at a gorgeous resort called Máncora Beach Bungalows. We spent the entire week out on the beach and in the pool, soaking up the sun and relaxing in our bungalows. We also did some exploring in the town. It didn’t seem to be a very busy time of year, so things were pretty quiet, however we heard that nightlife in Máncora is pretty big during their busier months. Once again, we really enjoyed the food in this town, and almost every night, we would watch the sunset, when the sky would turn beautiful shades of pink and orange.

A beautiful sunset in Máncora

For our final day, we went back to Lima, the capitol of Peru, to explore the city. It was pretty different compared to the other cities we went to. It was more modern, however there were some buildings that were much older. I really loved walking around the Plaza de Armas de Lima (or Plaza Mayor), and we stopped to take a look at the Government Palace and the Catedral de Lima. We also decided to go inside the Basílica y Convento de San Francisco de Lima, which was in walking distance from the Plaza. The inside of the cathedral was very unique to anything I had ever seen before. I always love walking into ancient cathedrals because I get to admire the architecture and it makes me think about how many people have walked by or inside since it was first built. Also, underneath the cathedral, we saw the catacombs, which was really cool. Lima was a very lively city, and we spent most of our last day taking it all in and reflecting on our favorite moments throughout our trip. This concluded our summer vacation, and the next morning, we were up and ready to head over to the airport so we could go home!

I was and am so very grateful that I was able to travel to Peru. Out of all of the places I have ever been, I think that Peru was the most different from my home country. It was unlike my life in the US, and I found so much beauty in this wonderful country. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommended traveling to Peru. It is such an incredible feeling to step outside of your own bubble, to see how other people live their lives, and to immerse yourself into new cultures. I will never forget this experience.

I hope you all enjoyed reading about my trip to Peru! I am finally all caught up on my travel posts, however I am hoping to share more travel related content very soon! My family and I have plans to do some more traveling this year (safely, of course), so I am looking forward to sharing that with you all! Thank you for reading!

OOTD: Spring is That You?

Hey everyone! Today I really wanted to share an outfit of the day. Spring is right around the corner, and it’s safe to say that this is my absolute favorite season for many reasons! The weather is gorgeous, the world around us is bright and vibrant with color again, and of course, spring fashion is always very exciting for me!

I am finally going to being posting some spring related content, starting with an outfit of the day! I have been looking forward to sharing this outfit with you all because I feel that it is perfect for this time of year! Where I live, it’s finally starting to get warmer, which I absolutely love! While spring may be a short season, you still have time to rock some spring fashion trends.

I recently bought this adorable dress from Ross, and I immediately knew that I wanted to center an outfit of the day around it! Ross is a very affordable place to shop, and I definitely recommend checking it out if you have one nearby. It is often compared to T.J. Maxx or Marshalls, and they have amazing prices on home décor, clothing, etc. I love this dress for many reasons. First, the pink/mauve color is beautiful for spring, and there are so many small details that make this dress so fun and girly. Any time I see big sleeves, I obsess over them, and when I picked up this dress, my reaction was no different. Sometimes, I love when trends make a comeback, and I now own a few items with big/puffy sleeves! Typically, bodycon dresses aren’t my favorite (I prefer flowy midi dresses for the most part), however I thought this one was very flattering on me. The belt at the waist is a very nice touch, and the zipper going down the front adds even more detail. I also really liked the sweetheart neckline with this dress because it gives it a feminine feel. The quality of this dress is decent, and I paid around $20 for it. Definitely be sure to check out your local Ross, and if this is unavailable to you, I will link dresses that are either similar or have similar characteristics here, here, and here.

As for the handbag, I decided to have a bit of fun! I normally prefer bags that are neutral, however, depending on the outfit, I think a pop of color can look great as well! For today’s look, I went with this bright yellow handbag. I love the floral detailing on the front, and all of the beautiful colors scream spring time! The shape of this bag is super cute and chic too. I thought that since the dress was all one color without any crazy designs or patterns, the bag would pair well with it! It can be worn as a crossbody, but with this dress, I liked it better as a handbag. Anything floral for the warmer months is always on trend and stylish, so I wanted to share a couple handbags that are gorgeous for the spring time! Click here, here, and here to check them out!

For my shoes, I went with a simple pair of nude block heels. I adore these shoes because they are so easy to style and wear, and they can be dressed up or down. They are perfect for spring and summer, and they can be found pretty much anywhere! I think every girl should own a pair of nude heels! I bought these in a size 8.5 at Target last year for around $25. You can purchase these heels here.

I wanted my jewelry to match the details on the dress, so I went with silver. My necklace was a sweet Valentine’s gift from my boyfriend Tom. The infinity symbol is special to us, and I just think that this necklace is so so beautiful (thank you baby)! For my earrings, I went with a pair of big silver hoops to complete the look!

That is all for my outfit of the day! Thank you so much for checking out today’s blog post! I am really excited for all of the content that I plan to share this season! Until next time!

How to Pursue Your Dreams

Some of us grow up and discover our purpose early on in life. We recognize some of the goals and dreams that we have, and we make a plan on how to reach them. Of course, this is not the case for everyone. Others are still trying to figure out what their purpose is. They are still wondering what their dreams really are, and how to pursue them. As we get older, we may change our minds or choose a different path, however we all have a light within us. The trick is to believe it and to never let it go out.

My boyfriend Tom has collaborated with me on this post, which I am always very thrilled to say! I love what he had to share on the topic, and his writing never fails to amaze me! We are sharing advice and words of encouragement, not because we are perfect or because we have it all figured out, but because we continue to grow and learn throughout our own experiences. We are hoping to inspire any and all readers with our words. This is a topic that will always remain relevant, and it can be helpful to anyone, no matter where you are in life. At times, people can be very hard on themselves and their journey, but there is and never will be a deadline or age limit when it comes to reaching your goals or pursuing your dreams.

It’s really important to discover what motivates you. When you close your eyes and imagine your dream life, you have to tell yourself that your goals and dreams are attainable, however, you can’t sit back and wait for the magic to happen, you have to work for it. Remember that motivation comes and goes, and while this is completely normal, you have to press forward in order to get to the other side. Motivation can come from a variety of things, but it shouldn’t always be centered around money, recognition, or material desires. More than anything, focusing on your passions will lead you to success. Always remember that success looks different to every soul you come across, and there truly is no clear definition of the term.

Pursuing dreams in life is healthy, motivating and ambitious. However, success is not only measured in calculated steps. Along the way to achieving goals, there will be wins and setbacks located at tangents, all of which should be embraced with positivity as part of the challenging yet rewarding journey. It isn’t about a perfect succession of planned events but rather the recognition that difficulties and unexpected opportunities are all part of the process. In addition, each person’s journey is uniquely mapped, often looking different to others’, but of course in no way inferior or superior.

The difficulties or surprises in question can either be seen as obstacles or as disguised open doorways. It really is a matter of perspective. A positive and accepting attitude produces an open mind, while relinquishing full control generates resilience and a renewed perspective despite the prevailing circumstances!

A very common emotion that many people experience when it comes to their dreams is fear, or more specifically, the fear of failure. While this emotion is valid and understandable, you must do your best to ignore these intrusive thoughts. The moment you begin to doubt yourself is the moment you will start to fall back. We’ve all done it at some point, and we will likely do it again, but it’s so important to think positively. No one said it was easy, however when you truly want something, you’ll work hard to make it happen. Dreams and plans may change throughout your life as well, and that’s ok. You don’t have to stay on one path forever. You can always turn around, make different choices, and grow from the overall experience. Share your passions proudly. You should never feel as if you’re tiptoeing around your dreams. It is a good idea to keep to yourself when planning out your next steps (remember, you don’t have to share every detail). Don’t let fear get in the way, and more importantly, don’t let it win. You have power over your thoughts, so do your best to let go of the fear, and believe in yourself wholeheartedly. At the end of the day, you should be your biggest cheerleader.

In setting goals and working towards them, it is important to not compare yourself to others but rather to surround yourself with the right people, those who genuinely support and encourage you, lifting you up all the while. There may be other people who offer nothing but judgement, but those people know so little about your life and they are walking a different path, one that meanders towards a different goal. Everyone is unique and therefore everyone has a unique pathway, so it’s important to accept the obvious differences. Time is also a factor which isn’t worth worrying about. Not only do people’s actual goals differ but so does the timeframe in which they’re achieved. Measuring success is individually bespoke, with no ‘one-size-fits-all’ set criteria.

It is natural for us to want to be liked by others. No one likes to feel judged; we all want to be accepted. Maybe it’s a thought that’s simply floating around in the back of your mind, or maybe it’s recurring and persistent, bringing you anxiety and fear. Either way, pursuing your dreams becomes a lot more challenging when you’re too concerned about what others think of you. To worry about the way others perceive you is to live a life that is not your own. When you believe that your passions aline with your purpose, no one can tell you otherwise. It can be difficult to change your mindset, but as you grow and experience life, this fear of judgment will slowly disappear. And when you look back to see all of the progress you’ve made, those who judged you, doubted you, or laughed at your plans will be unseen through the fog of your past struggles. What lies ahead is much more thrilling, and you will find incredibly supportive and uplifting individuals who can turn your life around for the better.

At the end of the day, you deserve to feel happy and fulfilled with your life. While we are all going to face obstacles at one point or another, testing your motivation, determination, strength, and courage, you must work through them and think about how you will feel when you reach your goals. It won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it in the end. The decisions that you make and the path that you go down are ultimately up to you, but remember to take some time to pause and appreciate how far you’ve come. You don’t have to be striving toward your goals every day and night. Go at your own pace. Relax, breathe, and take care of yourself on your journey, otherwise, you won’t be at your very best, and your dreams may begin to pass you by.

Above all, going after what you want in life should be adventurous and exciting! It will take hard work, dedication and perseverance. But if you can muster a smile regardless of what comes your way, then you’ll always feel like you’re more than halfway there.

Thank you so much for reading! We hope that you enjoyed today’s blog post, and we hope that you found it helpful and inspiring! We plan to share more of our writing in the future, and we appreciate the support very much!

How to Mix Styles: Feminine and Edgy

I was recently thinking about my own personal style and found that while many of the pieces I own are very feminine, I do own quite a few pieces that would be considered edgy as well. Many people like to stick to one style, however I really enjoy branching out and trying new things when it comes to fashion. I like to be a bit daring and bold with my outfit choices, and anyone who knows me never quite knows what to expect when I am getting ready.

Today, I thought it would be a fun idea to share some tips on how to mix different styles of clothing. You can mix and match outfits in so many different ways, but it was a fun challenge for myself to put these four looks together using both feminine and edgy pieces!

Outfit #1:

This first outfit is a bit more casual, and it can be worn for many different occasions. You can never go wrong with a nice pair of jeans, so I decided to go with my high-waisted straight leg jeans. If you’re going for more of a feminine look, I always feel that a lighter wash looks best, however the rips in this specific pair edge it up a bit! I went with a simple black ribbed tank and a funky patterned cardigan to go on top! The cardigan is truly a statement piece because of the cheetah print, the sparkle, and the material. It is super fun and it can spice up any casual look! I thought that my black pointed-toe ankle booties matched this look perfectly, and they are so comfortable and stylish! I think all neural looks are very chic, however adding a pop of color every now and then can look great as well! I added my pink Kate Spade crossbody bag, and I feel that it changed up the look completely! I think that silver accessories would go best with this outfit; it would match the hardware on the bag as well. It would be very nice to do some kind of updo like a low bun or a high pony tail for this look, and I would also want to create a makeup look that it a bit more dramatic, using liquid eyeliner and shimmer shadows.

Outfit #2:

Dresses are probably one of the most feminine pieces you can wear, and I practically live in them in the warmer months! While this dress is feminine due to the fit and the floral print, the colors make it more edgy.  I added a leather piece to this outfit, making it perfect for the rest of this season! This leather bomber jacket is one of my go-tos, and I just adore it! Since it is still a tiny bit chilly out, I went with my favorite black knee-high boots! I bought these a few years back and I still wear them very often! They’ll also keep your legs warm if you choose to wear dresses and skirts in the cooler months! (Tip: wear knee-high socks underneath the boots so they don’t slip. This will keep you extra warm as well!) For my accessories, I was so excited to style my new black cabby hat! I was never really a hat person until last year, and this might be my current favorite! These hats are just so cute and fun, and they add such a stylish look any outfit! For my hair, I would leave it natural (my hair is curly/wavy) and down so that the hat can stay on without any issues. I would also do a fun cat eye makeup look with a bright pink lip!

Outfit #3:

I think this outfit may be my favorite of the four! I had a vision of this look in my head, and I put it together in the hopes that it would look very stylish and chic. I started by styling a leather bralette with a black lightweight wrap coat (though it is more like a cardigan). This coat is a staple in my wardrobe because it can be paired with almost everything! I reach for it very often! (You can even swap out the coat for a nice longline blazer and it would still look incredible!) I then decided to make it a bit more feminine by pairing it with a gorgeous pair of lilac silk pants. There are slits that go from the knee to the ankle, making the pants flow as you walk, which almost looks angelic. These pants are also the perfect transition piece for winter-spring! I wasn’t sure if I’d like mixing the leather and silk, but I think it worked out beautifully in the end! For my shoes, I went with a simple pair of black block heels. They are so classic and they can be worn with most outfits! I used a diamond clip to pull back some strands of hair on one side, clipping it firmly to the back of my head. I would want to create a makeup look that is simple, by using a champagne shade on my lids and in my crease, and I would use one of my best lengthening mascaras to make my lashes very long. I would also do a neutral matte lip color!

Outfit #4:

This last look is a perfect t example of an outfit that is feminine and edgy! I decided to style this look around my leather pants!  This material will make any look instantly cool, and I believe that most people can pull it off well. Leather pants are also very trendy right now! I wanted to add a chic touch with my top, so I paired the bottoms with a long sleeved pink turtleneck. This instantly makes the outfit look more professional and put together. The color makes it much more feminine as well! For my shoes, I went with the same black pointed-toe ankle booties that I styled previously. I would consider these to be classy, and they complete the look perfectly! Sunglasses can always bring an air of mystery to the wearer, so I went with my black cat eye sunnies! The shape is very feminine as well. When it comes to jewelry, I would keep it simple. I think that some silver hoops would look very nice, and maybe a dainty silver bracelet. Also, I would keep the makeup pretty natural as well, focusing more on lightly defining my eyes with neutral shadows, and keeping the lips neutral yet shiny.

Tips:

Accessorize

Things such as jewelry, hats, shoes, or bags can really make or break an outfit! Think about what goes best with your outfit. You never want to go overboard with accessories, so try to keep it simple!

Think of feminine/edgy colors

Colors such as pink or purple are typically seen as feminine or girly, so these are great options! Or, you can think about different shades of the same color. Even pastel colors are very pretty and they can instantly bring some femininity back to any outfit. On the other hand, black, gray, and red can perfectly create an edgy look! Silver accessories are a nice touch with this style too!

Style around basic pieces

If you think about pieces that are more feminine, things like dresses or skirts may come to mind. If you start with a simple dress, you can add edgy accessories to go with it. Or, if you start with a black bodysuit, you can pair it with bright colored shoes or even a bold blazer to change things up!

It’s all in the details

Sometimes, just the material is enough! As you can see from my outfit examples, I mixed both leather and silk, and dark colors with light. Material such as silk and lace can create a beautiful feminine look whereas leather and velvet create a bold and edgy look. Also, little details such as bows, pearl/diamond accents, or ruffles can bring out your girly side. Studs, rips, or cutouts are much more daring!

I know that these four outfits that I shared today are better suited for winter, so after this post, I will share more spring related content (be on the lookout for that)! I hope you all enjoyed reading today’s blog post! I had so much fun putting these looks together, and challenging myself to create outfits that mix two completely different styles! I created a reel on my Instagram, @sacchere14, and I would appreciate it if you checked it out (it may help to see the outfits actually being worn)! Thank you so much for reading!
